LSU-Arky is a crappy rivalry IMO, and while I certainly want to beat Arkansas, it's a very one-sided rivalry similar to the LSU-Ole Miss rivalry

I agree but hopefully with a new Offensive Coordinator and a new QB ya'll will be more competitive in that game.

On the bright side, ya'll have beat us once out of the last 4 years so there is hope.

I mean no offense to Arky. Arky deserves our respect, and if we don't start "circling" Arky on our schedule, we are going to continue struggling in that game.

I'm just saying that I as a fan have never put as much emphasis on the Arky game as I have the Florida, Bama, and Auburn games.

And in regards to the OP subject, I don't consider Arkansas a "true" rival. Of course that could change in the future if the West consistently comes down to Arky or LSU, but we haven't reached that point yet.

Strictly personal reasons.

No offense taken, just messing with ya.

I agree its not a real rivalry yet. But rivalries that aren't in-state take time to build. And the Arkansas/LSU rivalry has great potential to be a great one.

Say what you want, but it is a great idea by the SEC to Manufacture this one. It has a lot of potential.

Younger LSU fans don't care about Arkansas or Ole Miss.

Actually i think they are the ones that care about the arkansas "rivalry" older ones care about more traditional rivalries.

Some rednecks in our fanbase would rather beat bama than have a NC.

It most cases wouldn't it require beating Bama to get to the NC?

I consider these Auburn's greatest rivals:

1a. Alabama (our most hated rival)
1b. Georgia (our longest and most respected rival)
2. LSU (our newest rival)
3a. Florida ( from the good old days)
3b. Tennessee (also from the good old days)
4. Miss State (only because we've been playing a long time, but the rivalry is lopsided)
5. Arkansas (they want to be our rival)

In my lifetime, Arkansas is 8-11 verse LSU, with 10 of those games coached by Houston Nutt. Petrino is 2-1 verse Miles. By the time Petrino is done at Arkansas, Hogs will overtake LSU is head to head record since joining the SEC.

Last season the game was for a trip to Sugar Bowl and a top 10 regular season finish. The 2011, '12, '13, etc games could very well have even bigger implications.
