Tyndall made basketball relevant at Southern frickin Miss. I think it'll end up being a great hire.

I was hoping Alabama would look at Tyndall. I think he's a great coach.

Remember he beat Louisville with Morehead State in the NCAA tourney a few years back

Anthony Grant beat Duke with VCU in the tourney a few years back.

Stan Heath took Kent St to the elite one year.

There is more to a good coach than one good tourney run.

Not to beat a dead horse, and I don't know your position on the Martin issue...but that's why he's gone.

Umm... its an apple to oranges comparison when talking about that tourney run occurring at some other school compared to occurring at your school.

The expectation is that if a run is made at your school, the ability to repeat or better said run would show in the up coming years for your program.

With both his bigs leaving and with the amount of production/emphasis he puts on his bigs for his offense to succeed, that's all it would have been, expectations. Expectations that with out some miracle were never going to be met.

He didn't rely on post scoring as much when at Missouri St., they won more with Guard play.

He had two good bigs while at Tennessee, but the fan base will fault him for using what he had while he recruited what he wanted.

The problem with the mid-major coach is many do not know their actual philosophy due to them having to do the best with what they could get, Tyndall was being talked up as being an uptempo coach, for example.

The other thing to be leary of is when a coach hasn't been at a program to establish his philosophy but instead uses the previous coach's, when they get the big job and roster turnover occurs you see their philosophy and it often isn't what you thought you were getting when they were hired.

All I know is that I went to The NIT game that Mizzou lost to Southern Miss, and the difference between USM and MU, discipline-wise and knowing what the plan was on the court were obvious. He didn't have quite the athletes that Mizzou had and they still beat Mizzou into submission. I was really, really impressed with how well his team played, so I would have been happy had Mizzou ended up with him. I think he's a solid hire.

He was at UT. Continuing the trend with Jarnels 7'1 to be replacement committing last week before they decided to head West. If he expected to transition to more guard production next year then he was going to be in a world of hurt with our roster with Barton and Mcrae leaving.

While I agree that it's possible on your last two paragraphs. I find it unlikely with as much experience he has and reading up on his style of play while at his previous programs. He sounds like he has a base model that he follows with exceptions to adjust with specific personel.

He wouldn't be able to use the previous staffs philosophy regardless. The personel/fits aren't there anymore. Coming back to why CCM caught some flac, recruiting. (Which wasn't a complete bust)

Martin is not a very good coach. Worst case scenario is that we traded equal coaches. I think theres a better chance that we've hired a better coach.

You can continue to live in fantasy land but the truth is coming out about the true state of the program.
