Never heard of him. : dunno:

Comes across as a douche and most people don't like douchebags
I will say this. When it's officially announced that Sean White is the starter, and JFIII begins to take reps in practice at WR, his attitude will serve him well there. Many of the best WRs are also arrogant, a-hole, divas

didn't FSU already try this which is why he ended up at EMCC, to prove he can play QB?

They tried it. Idk if that's exactly why he transferred but I'm sure that had something to do with it.
But he couldn't even start in JUCO over a guy who's only offer was Mississippi College. He won't start for us. If he wants to play football past college he needs to accept that it won't be as a QB. If he has even decent hands and can learn to run a route then he can become a really unique and dangerous weapon on offense. The kind of unique that will draw looks from scouts. And if he can get scouts interested then his track-star speed will land him somewhere. He just needs to face reality.

To be fair, that guy was a beast, he also had plenty of smaller offers, but wanted to play for a bigger school and most of those schools don't offer QB's that are around 5'11.
Franklin has potential no doubt. Plus the main thing going for him is his threat as a runner and Malzahn's offense really needs a true running threat at QB to be most dangerous. Malzahn did really well with Casey Dick at Arkansas, but he also had the best backfield in college football.

And he also needs a QB that can throw, and Franklin just can't cut it as a passer. He doesn't have it in him to be a QB. Malzahn has put together very good offenses before with QBs much less mobile than Sean White.
Gus also spent time this offseason meeting with other spread coaches, most notably with Briles (pre-scandal breaking), to work to incorporate RPO (Run-Pass Option) principles and plays into his playbook. It's a philosophy that will help alleviate the need for a "true running threat". It's something Baylor uses a lot, as well as Ole Miss. You saw how well Chad Kelly ran it last year.
Sean White will almost certainly be the starter at this point. With him under center hopefully we see a lot more RPO than the Marshall/Cam style read-option. White is a good passer and this fits his skill-set very well.

Good points. Honestly it was a little surprising to see Lashlee offer him. I thought his rushing potential was the main reason.

Auburn fans were shocked with the offer too. We thought we were going to offer Jerod Evans who's about to win the starting job at Virginia Tech. He was a perfect fit for the offense and put up incredible numbers in JUCO. The Franklin offer and commit was a "WTF Lashlee" moment for AU fans too. We heard a lot of it had to do with Dameyune Craig was high on Franklin and had a good relationship with him and kind of insisted on Franklin. And now he's not even here, so it's still like WTF

To be fair it is early and I just skimmed through the comments.

he does seem alright especially compared to some of the others on the show. I think most people's beef with him stems from:
-him not even being able to beat out another JUCO qb who currently isn't even playing any more
-him being so cocky for seemingly no reason. Talking about how good he is all the time and yadda yadda, while sitting on the bench
But it does seem like was one of hte VERY few that actually took academics seriously and did well in class.

quote:He had an offer from and committed to Jacksonville State out of high school. I followed him through high school because I knew of him through his dad. He decided that he might get to play more at EMCC so he went there because it was close to home. Unfortunately, Chad Kelly also decided go to EMCC. He wanted to go to EMCC for 2 years then walk on at State. He is tough as nails though and a gamer. Plus, he studies the game. Just undersized for D1 - unless you are a JFF type talent.

I am thrilled that he is an Auburn tiger. Great job Gus.

No beef.... He just might be a bigger bust than Jeremy Johnson and since I root for the SEC team that's one state over and in the same division I find that funny.

He is probably worth the risk.
Especially given the qb situation.
Attitude-- meh --- I want a kid who thinks he should be on the field and thinks he is elite.
Accuracy --- this is the biggest issue.

I thought the first two episodes made him come across as a bit over the top, but the last four I thought he came across as a normal CFB player. The coaches, teammates and guidance counselor all spoke highly of him as well.
