I agree. This thread isn't about that though. There is nothing intimidating about playing at their stadium other than the fact that you typically have to play a very good OU team. They have a much stronger program than we do, I don't disagree.

Texas wins more than us and their atmosphere is a joke. Moot point.

But that's the point. This is how it's such a subjective ranking. I've been to Kyle Field twice. Once when I was 6 (1988 Alabama-A&M) and again when A&M played Miami. I went to Norman in 2002 when they played Alabama.

If you're factoring the actual quality of the team in, then the thread title is a misnomer. Kyle Field is louder than OU. I've been to Kyle Field for big games and pointless non con games. I've been to Norman 5 or 6 times. Norman is harder to play at because of the quality of the team. Actual crowd noise, it's not even close.

Again, it's about personal experience. Would you say Husky Stadium is the loudest in the country? Well, some people might suggest it is. The largest decibel reading ever was at the 1991 Washington-Nebraska game.

Fair enough. I think we were talking more about how loud the stadium is during any given game. There have been some very quiet moments at Kyle (Missouri 2010) but overall I'd say Kyle is much louder than Oklahoma or most other stadiums.

I see your point. I'm obviously biased, so I'm really basing my opinions off my few OU friends saying Kyle is louder than Memorial Stadium. I've always liked OU as a road trip but been pretty underwhelmed with their gameday atmosphere considering how rich their history as a program.

How many other stadiums have you actually visited?

Few, I just collect clippings from Sports Illustrated that say we're top 3 in gameday experience and pleasure myself to it until it't too yellow and crusty to use anymore

That's another good point too. I really question how many stadiums people have visited that suggest which are the loudest. I've been to most in the SEC, a few in the Big XII, and Ohio Stadium. I want to check out The Colesium and Autzen Stadium.

Should have gone to Nebraska before they left. That was an experience. Still my favorite fans in college football. Now that was a loud fricking stadium.

I haven't been to enough honestly. That's why I feel out of place making any sort of list. I've been to Texas, OU, Baylor, Tech, Nebraska, Ole Miss and LSU. I only feel comfortable drawing conclusions when it comes to two stadiums I've been to.

And several non AQ achools and neutral sites/bowl sites that don't count

I don't think it's a coincidence that the programs that have won big over many decades rarely rate high on people's "gameday experience". Most of those programs are single minded in winning titles, and maybe that kills the party somewhat. I'm glad Alabama totally restructured their gameday set-up several years ago, because it was much the same way. Stale was a word that used to come to mind. I think it's tremendous now, and one of the best in the country.

Just comparing Nebraska and OU, which are both super successful programs, Nebraska>>>OU. My friends from OU complained that they had been trying to crack down on tailgating at OU too.

This is that "hangover" I'm talking about. Building up one game, this much, 6 months out.

Exactly. It annoys the hell out of me when someone claims that their stadium is the best when they have never actually been anywhere else.

Well when it's you know who's first trip back at night, you'll have to forgive the anticipation
