Opens thread. See's that OP has AU #1 and reads first two responses by Auburn fans

pretty much spot on for the most part

I just can't believe Vandy fell so hard this quickly. I didn't think they would win 9 games again but I sure as hell didn't think they would get blown out by temple.

I don't think anyone saw that coming.

To be honest I wasn't taking his analysis as power rankings. I was just assuming he was listing schools and the analysis. He did a very good analysis, if he picks Auburn to be 1st right now, I am not on that train, but what he said is spot on.

(yes I failed at reading the title correct)

Vandy still has a lot of talent on the team but if they want to play merry go round at the QB position then I see them going winless in the SEC.

That's never a good idea even in the best of situations, much less with the slate they face year in and year out.

Hopefully it was a fluke game, but that is a hell of a loss. I was so convinced Mason was a great hire 5 days ago

He could have ranked bama a little lower. West Virginia wasn't a great team last season and wasn't expected to be this year either.

One thing no ones mention on ranking the west is the fact that AU and TAMU are 1-0 in sec play and Arky and USCe are 0-1 in sec.

That fact alone lends me to rank them for what I saw week 1.

1. Tamu
2. Au
3. UA
4. LSU
5. State
6. OM
7. Ark

TAMU looked better than anyone for a complete game. On the road at that.

I agree here...I would make one change though...Arky over Ole Miss. Ole Miss looked sloppy, have no running game and a shitty QB. Great safeties, really good LB's and one great DT..and 2 solid WR's in Treadwell and that other kid out of Auburn (can't remember his name) that was obviously underrated at 2*'s...but they were sloppy...looked poorly coached on both sides of the ball. I have said it before and will reiterate...Ole Miss does not have it at the line of scrimmage to make any kind of push on the West. Arky will win that game. Arky's much improved on both lines...better QB play and better D. For a half, they gave the defending champs all they could handle.

I have no problem with TAMU over Auburn...we were a bit inconsistent and had everyone worried in the first half. Somehow, TAMU is improved on D and Kenny Hill is a freaking man...and holy crap Seales-Jones and Speedy Noil.

the immense overreaction to A&M beating USC has been amusing.

You're right. Hanging 50+ and the most yardage ever on the OBC (@WB, no less) is no biggie.

This is the best way to rank the west. There are too many unknowns to justify any position.

Oh, we may not win many this year, but we will be much more competitive than last year. I thought we competed very well with Auburn for a half. I fully believe that there is somebody, maybe even two, in that group you list ahead of us that we will beat.
We are coming.

5)MSU - Admittedly I did not watch the MSU game but I am a believer that Dak is a very solid QB, and that Chris Jones is the best DT in the league. Unfortunately for MSU the talent and depth just isn't their yet.

and with that final comment you'd be wrong. We are for the first time in forever have 2 and 3 deep across the board, the only exception is Oline. Yeah that's a concern but every position on D we're at least 2 deep but most pos 3 deep. Best combined WR corps ever at State as well.

there is not a single SEC west game this year that I can say with confidence that we will win. However, I could also see us beating every single team.

FIFY

LSU has tremendous talent but it needs to mature. Quickly. Still a lot of football to be played.

After watching both games I feel like Arky might beat Ole Miss as well. Their online and running attack is legit and their dline is solid. All depends on which Bo Wallace we see cause if he's on he will pick apart the weak secondary. Should be a good game, toss up IMO,
