Below are the average ranking for each division using the S&P ranking for each team.

Rankings by Division
#1. SEC West - 25
#2. Big Ten East - 43
#3. ACC Atlantic - 44
#4. Big XII - 47
#5. Big Ten West - 48
#6. Pac 12 North - 50
#7. Pac 12 South - 53
#8. SEC East - 59
#9. American West - 71
#10. American East - 73

Overall Conferences
#1. SEC - 42
#2. Big Ten - 45
#3. Big XII - 47
#4. ACC - 50
#5. Pac 12 - 52
#6. American - 72

The SEC East has 4 of their 7 schools ranked below 80th (Missouri 82, Vanderbilt 85, Kentucky 91, South Carolina 93).

Interesting side note - if Alabama goes to the SECCG they will have played the top 3 SEC East Teams (Florida 10, Tennessee 24, Georgia 27) and none of the SEC East teams below 80.

The west would probably be 5th if you take out Bama.

Well, playing that game if you take out Florida the East is dead last.

Nope. The only teams in the West outside the Top 30 are Texas A&M (44) and Auburn (63). Alabama and Ole Miss are Top 10, Arkansas and LSU Top 20, Mississippi State 23.

So it probably wouldn't be #1, but it would be in the Top 3. The West doesn't have any total dumpster fire teams in an overall national perspective. The East has 4 of their 7.

What would the Easy (East, damn auto correct) if you took out Florida?

You can keep trying to defend it, but we all know the west is weak without Bama.

The 'X would be worse if you take out Y' statement has to be the most asinine thing I repeatedly see on this board. X does have Y, and until X stops having Y, trying to take away from X by saying it's only good because of Y is like saying, well in reality you may be awesome, but in a hypothetical scenario I pulled out of my butt, you suck.

Every conference is weak. CFB as a whole is down this year.

Not really trying to defend anything. The West has 1 elite team (Alabama), 2-3 pretty good teams (State, Ole Miss, Arkansas) and 2-3 pretty average teams (LSU, A&M, Auburn).

The East has 2-3 pretty good teams (UGA, TN, FLA) and 4 abysmal awful teams (Missouri, KY, Vandy, USCe).

I don't know why this pisses so many fans, especially Georgia, off. The West is better than the East. In the 90's and early 2000's the East was better. Anyone can see it. It's not an argument. At some point the East will be better than the West again.

This is also the worst the East (or maybe any SEC division) has been in at least 15 years, maybe longer. More than half the division is a flaming embarrassment. There are 4 gimmee wins in that division. Tennessee, Florida and Georgia are all competitive and average to good football teams. The other 4, all at the same time, that's awful.

This is simply not true. Bama is an elite team, 2 good teams in the Mississippi schools. 2 Average teams in LSU and A&M, and then 2 bad teams in Arkansas and Auburn.

Arkansas is not a bad team. That is just silly. Throw them in the average group and I can agree with you.

And again, that isn't great, but it still puts the West as one of the top 1-3 divisions. Not sure what your point is there?

They are a bad team but whatever. My point is the West is not that good this year. Bama is, and not much besides that. All of West teams are dickriding Bama, and trying to make themselves feel better.

Arkansas is not bad. They were in September and early October but aren't now. Teams change over the year. Some for the good and some for the bad. Your team, mostly because of Chubb's injury, is worse now than in September. A&M because Bama makes them quit every year is worse now. LSU(see above) is worse now. UF is worse now. State and Arky are better. I think you understand.

If you definition of "good" is having 4 teams in the Top 15, then you are right.

If the definition of "good" is a division full of teams that will win 8+ games, win most of their OOC games vs solid Power 5 teams and the entire division make a bowl game, then yes it is good.
