Wouldn't having college kids counted as part of the population skew trends towards more poverty?

Just wondering.

Same case with Gainesville, but our downtown area has a large homeless population. And I remember some organization rated the city as one of the meanest cities to homeless people.

Probably low all across the SEC. Could you imagine being poor up north?

I went to DC not too long ago. Tons of homeless people. There are shanty towns on the National Mall.

I wonder why these people don't move down a couple of state lines. Get a job. Money goes a lot farther down South compared to up North.

Athens-Clark County is right next to Oconee County. If you're worth anything, you live in Oconee County. Oconee County is the bee's knees and has a poverty rate of like 8%.It's one of the richer counties in Georgia. The only people who live in Athens-Clark County are students, people who live close to the school, and ghetto people. Also, since Athens is the largest town in the surrounding counties, all the homeless migrate to Athens because they're more likely to find success begging/homeless/shelters/all of that kind of stuff.

I volunteered at some homeless shelters in Gainesville as a student and a lot of them were from up north actually.

And funny enough, I lived in DC at one point too. I could not believe how expensive everything was. Not just DC, but surrounding parts of Maryland and Virginia also.

Interesting. I'll have to remember this in a few months when the South Carolina/Georgia game is upon us and things are heating up between the two fanbases and y'all spout off some dumb shite about how Columbia is a shithole and what not.

All this talk about SEC towns having ghetto areas reminds me why I love my town.

The city of Auburn is unlike the rest of the county in almost every way possible. Why not look at poverty by city? Nevermind. College students are poor.
