I'm not saying UT will be top 5, but I do believe we will improve from last year. We do lose all of our starting D-Line, but IMO we uprgade at talent at that position. UT has lacked a substantial pass-rush for a few seasons now and now we have the players and the attitude to improve that. Our LB corps will be solid with AJ and Curt as anchors, and our DBs will also be solid with Cam Sutton and Brian Randolph as the anchors.

IMO, I think UGA will regress a little due to growing pains, at least for the first part of the season. That's pretty typical with a new DC and a new scheme.

Arkansas - 6/11

Not that it matters because our defense is perpetually terrible but I would say that we actually return 8/11 starters.

DE - Trey Flowers
DT - Darius Philon - started the last 6 games due to injury.
OLB - Braylon Mitchell
MLB - Brooks Ellis
CB - Tevin Mitchel
CB - Will Hines
S - Alan Turner
S/NB - Rohan Gaines

I'm guessing they didn't count Philon since he was filling in all year for an injured starter and Gaines who was our starting NB in 5 games and first backup on the field at either S spot.

Like I said, it doesn't matter because our defense is never going to challenge for the top spot but I'm a stats guy so I like everything to be correct.

Its hard to pick against Bama, but you have to look at the other side of the ball too. Its fair to say that the offense isn't going to be as good as last year with AJ and some guys on the OL gone, so one can assume the defense will be on the field more and naturally give up more yards/points because of that.

Plus losing 7 starters would hurt anyone. Essentially if you count the OLBs as part of Bama's "DL" in rushing situations you lose 3 out of 5 there, a guy who will be a DROY candidate in the NFL this year in Mosley, and 3-4 DBs that played a lot last year (2(?) corners, HaHa, and Vinnie). Things just don't set up well, not that I'd be surprised at yall being number 1 though.

UFs defense last year would've been the best in the country if the offense wasn't a dumpster fire.

If UFs offense makes strides this year, UF will have a top 5 defense I the nation without a doubt.

The only way we could regress is not having a defense on the field.

I think AU will break into the Top 5 this season in terms of scoring defense.

The difference between 2nd and 9th was 4.4 points so it is def doable.

1. Alabama - The only year since 2007 that you could argue that Alabama wasn't the best overall defense in the SEC is maybe 2012, when Florida was ridiculous on that side of the ball, so until I see different, Alabama is #1.

2. Florida
3. LSU
4. Ole Miss
5. Georgia
