Well, I don't think the SEC ever lost to Toledo before - good going.

Question for pioneerbasketball

Why not just put the question in your thread title?

2010 is really the gold standard for a dominant conference. When the 4th place team in the west ends the season 10-3, then that's something that's pretty special. Even though the east was down that year, it was still SOMEWHAT stout.

That team really under-achieved - loaded with talent.

No real good QBs in the league. Take a look around and the offenses are all pretty much garbage, with the exception of a couple of teams. Hell the 7 teams on the East are terrible on O.

Sec teams have lost to top 25 teams in the past.

Hell, the 5th place team had 9 wins, IIRC.

I think the slippage is due to worse defenses. SEC offenses are as good as ever, but most come at the expensive of defense and "defense wins championships".

UA lost to NIU in a year when I believe they ended up a top 25 team (Shula years) and NIU had an NFL RB.

They also lost to ULM (Saban) and another directional Louisiana school under Dubose at Legion Field with Su Alexander. Which that school had a helluva QB and WR that year, but still shouldn't have beaten UA.

Toledo is better than those schools, sans NIU that particular season.

Sadly true

Maybe, but in all honestly, we had no business losing to Toledo. They're a legitimately good team, but we beat them everywhere except the scoreboard.

In '99, Bama lost to La. Tech, got whipped by a 9-3 UT team, and beat Spurrier's Gators twice and won the SEC

It is pathetic trying to defend that loss.

I don't know, but does every SEC team have an atrocious loss anytime in the recent past?

We just lost to The Citadel, so....

Florida lost to GA Southern.

Others?

I personally think the potential for these losses is increasing with the TV exposure for all of CFB. We almost lost to J-state this year. Their entire Dline had been on an SEC roster in the past. IMO at the time the game was played they had a superior dline to Auburn.

Are they not a top 25 team?
