Question for the board...

Why do so many on here have some random team in their avatar, like Penn, San Jose st, Montana, and are a fan of an SEC team? I know it's some inside joke, but what's the purpose?

various reasons. Some are pulling for a particular team in an upcoming 'big game' from time to time. Some are so in love with their posting they have said " different logo makes it easier to find my posts"

The same reason some people wear flat billed hats with stickers still attached, drive trucks with tires that are too big for the truck, sag their pants, wear Ugg boots with running shorts, and pull for Auburn...
They think it's cute even though it's stupid... and mainly because they want to and can.

Good question Don The Rapper,I can not speak for others but I grew up in Philadelphia I was forced to go to college in state PSU, I then did my post grad in New Orleans after which I married a Creole LSU grad, a Gump from Anniston Alabama, and a post operative transexual with a PHD from UGA

I have always wondered what your affiliation was and now I know. Thanks.
ETA. Its pretty clear that I am an Alabama fan from my sig but there aren't logos for NFL teams and I would sport a Ravens logo so I just chose Loyola-MD instead.
