I'm yalls state, what is the rivalry like with GT? They've been horrible in football but that doesn't always erase a rivalry so I'm genuinely curious.

It's like Texas and TAMU but with a more competitive series.

I really don't think nothing of it anymore. I's no fun. It used to mean a lil something around Thanksgiving, now not so much so, and that's with 3 cousins that graduated from there.

They beat us more recently than Tennessee has.

It is not a hated rival for me. I had plenty of friends who went there and I take pride that it is a great state school. That being said, I don't want UGA losing to them in football. Sort of like a non-toxic sibling rivalry for me.

Well that's disappointing but I get it.

Would UGA fans prefer an annual Thanksgiving game against a particular opponent?

No I am fine with finishing the season against the other power 5 state school.

Not really, it's still Tradition and would feel weird.

I've always described Georgia's rivals like this:

Florida is the team we love to beat the most. Tech is the team we hate to lose to the most.

It's a great game to have the week before the SECCG. Coach gets to let some players rest up and spends most of Tech week gameplanning for whatever SEC West team/s.

It’s not really a rivalry any more. Not that it really ever was. At least not in modern times. Georgia could probably score 90 plus if they wanted to. When UGA hits the half century mark they usually put the 3 stringers in and let the others rest up for the SECCG. The main problem UGA has with GT is taking them seriously and fighting boredom

I’d prefer that the Dawgs ditch GT and add Ga Southern or Mercer. It’d be a better game and both schools would probably agree to come to Athens every year. No more trips to that dump by Coke

I guess you're not old enough to remember the early '90s or late '90s. It was pretty awful. Georgia/Georgia Tech was a good rivalry for a long time until Coach Richt came on the scene. Richt restored order in the Tech and Tennessee rivalries. Two of his biggest accomplishments. And then Kirby came in and completely slammed the door.

Kinda seems like when LSU played Tulane every year - couple of fun games in the beginning then got boring.

Georgia tech has beaten Georgia almost 50% of the time since the mid-70s?

I remember those days. I also remember a game at GT where the refs were suspended from officiating at an upcoming conference title game because they totally blew a call that gave the game to GT on a fumble that never happened.
GT has not beaten UGA in Atlanta since 1999.And only a couple of times in Athens in overtime and on field goals. Not some of UGAs prouder moments or better teams.

UGA fans have a hard time taking Tech seriously. Especially after that clown coach they just got rid of. This sock less, hoodie vest, tight skinny jeans wearing guy had his players lifting weights on the sidelines, doing silly choreographed dances that they were actually graded on, flashing gang signs, throwing fake money with their HCs fat face pictured on it, hosting Waffle House Wednesdays, refusing to eat catsup - it’s RED! And they won’t wear red or eat it cause it’s UGAs color.

They did have those ice cream nights and snack get togethers and that water slide was a real hoot! GT has always been a little weird but the last few years they have gone from weird to ridiculous. But they do make us laugh until we hurt so it’s not all bad.

It is a big rivalry for me.

I live outside the perimeter up in the mountains. We have a ton of engineers up here (GT, Clemson, and Kentucky).

The GT fans are quiet. But that is only because they haven't won since 2016. When they win, they are the worst.
Technically, they are the worst any time Georgia loses (even when it isn't against Tech).

Are you talking about GT or you and your frat buddies?
