For two teams with such passion and financial resources, Auburn's Stan White and Alabama's Phil Savage are about two of the worst color analysts I've ever heard. The other team is always "lucky" , the refs are against them, etc.

Those two are just pitiful.

Why is an Alabama fan listening to an Auburn broadcast on the radio?

Hey, I used to like to listen to Bama games when Snake was on there. Dude had no clue what was going on. It was hilarious.

Conspiracy theories are the Auburn way. They are perpetual victims. Their excuse for not being good enough is that the world is out to get them - led by big bad bammer.

You're not wrong.

They are the same crew that had called the Alabama Ole Miss game the previous week. When they screw up a call, there is no conspiracy involved- just predicable incompetence.

Yep. If you see Owens' crew just go ahead and get ready for terrible officiating. They are the worst SEC crew by a very wide margin.

Stan had a really poor record against Bama. If not for Patrick Nix bailing him out in '93, he would have been 0 for 4 against Bama as a starter.

I was driving back from a camp about 2 hours away and my only way to hear what was going on in that game was the AU radio network (tried to find it on Sirius but it wasn't being broadcast).

My interest was strictly financial, as I had the game as part of a four team parlay and my first two had already hit (Ole Miss & FSU + the points).

AU's broadcast team are homers. That's ok. They are primarily broadcasting for an AU audience. They are super whiny though. When Key sacked White on a play and it was called targeting they were saying "there's no way this gets overturned and if it does then the SEC office needs to have answers". When it was overturned Rod literally laughed out loud for about 6-8 seconds straight while Stan yelled, "Are you KIDDING me? Are. You. Kidding. Me?!" Then they went on about how something has to be done and that the SEC office will have some explanation but it won't make sense and this is pathetic how this always seems to happen.

When Key made a play later Rod said, "Play made by Arden Key, a guy who shouldn't even BE in this game right now". I called a buddy and asked if it was obvious targeting. he said it was close but that the TV broadcast team (the impartial ones) said it should be overturned.

He's commonly referred to as Stan Whine amongst my Aub friends.

Is there a rule against listening to football games that don't involve the team you support? My sons and I listen to games all the time on the road home from Tuscaloosa.

Same thing happens with that arse clown Phil whatshisname on the Bama broadcasts. That guy is the biggest homer douche on radio, but hey, it's the home team broadcast. It's supposed to be that way.

He must be... I know as much about Bama's team as I do Auburn's. It is good to know your enemy.

+1 Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

When I have to listen to them in the car, I don't mind Rod at all he calls a good game. Stan's a crybaby at times though, he may get better as he matures.

I will say the two brothers that called the game on TV were horribly anti-Auburn the whole night. ESPN needs to do something about that shite IMO.

I understand being a homer, but he could do a better job at remaining closer to neutral. He should be stepping people away from the ledge, not coaxing them closer.

Hell no, I have money on damn near every game and if I'm in the car I'm listening to the games and getting scores, etc.

AU's Stan White = Bama's Phil Savage

IMO he stayed pretty calm and never really 2nd guessed his pre-snap assertion that the game was over and the touchdown wouldn't stand. I felt that way watching it personally, but in all honesty began to question it when the ESPN announcers started stumping for LSU. I guess Stan was lucky not to have to listen to them.

To say that the play shouldn't stand because of what he observes is certainly fine.
It's the conspiracy crap that the SEC office is out to get Auburn is what bothers me.
I find it unprofessional to insinuate that a conference would deliberately do something specific just to harm Auburn. And to do it seemingly on a regular basis.

It stems from the 70's and early 80's when Bear had the refs in his pocket. I don't think things are nearly as bad today as they were then, but a lot of AU fans still have PTSD from those days.

And, no, I am not saying the REC paid the refs back then, but I do know for a fact that Bear made it known to the refs "don't cross me" and they obliged by giving him more calls than went against him. He was also close personal friends of many of the refs. Pat Dye talked about this just the other day in an interview (he was on Bear's staff).
