I remember growing up a poor black child in South Carolina.

Instead of water wings, I had an old tire innertube. And soda was a real treat. Most of the time, though, we could only afford kool-aid.

Mom would say "You guys want a soda today?" And we'd all answer at once, "you betcha!!"
