From a meeting in Columbus (au territory) right after he was hired:

quote:

Question 4) First thing coach, you gotta beat Auburn...

CJP: (interrupts the question,) "I'm not used to worrying about Auburn. Next question".

Question 5) For those of us who are concerned about the secondary, can you give us a reason to feel good about our secondary this year?

CJP: I've never been part of a bad secondary.

And sure enough he lived up to those.

Pruitt seems to have the spread figured out. That said, he will do what Saban wants done. Pruitt did get exposed against UT last season, but that is with UGA players, not Alabamas. There is quite a gap there.
Alabama is going to have a nasty defense!!

2013 fluke

Wouldn't say 2013 was a fluke...while I think we would've won if we could've just made a FG down the stretch, even without the Kick 6 the game was headed into overtime...and with our kicker's confidence shot, AU had both the better kicker and the momentum so I didn't like our chances in OT...that's one reason why the Kick 6 didn't bother me near as much as "Punt, Bama, Punt"...

based on the past, what would possibly make you think this is going to happen?

That one first half vs FSU that one time? Before his defense shut them down in the 2nd half?

Or the 7 pts in Athens the following year?

Or the 13 pts and 3 turnovers in 2015?

Pruitt owns Gus and the only argument I have seen otherwise is UT and FSU 1st half. Pretty sad.

Oh goodie. Resorting to the ol' bad poster/double wide/cousin lover/little kid comments. Those are fun. Honestly, I wish I could go back in time. I'd redo a lot of things. Probably would be loaded with having future knowledge.

That said, why would I hide? Your entire board all of last season was ready to crucify Gussy girl.

Yeah, and they had NFL talent all over the field and gave up 31 points and 450 yards to us.

Imagine what he would've done had he a former AU coach on his sidelines stealing plays.

If our defense could have not shite the bed we could have won the game pretty handedly.

I believe this began as soon as the towels went up?

if nick marshall and tre mason were on the team still maybe he'd be concerned. Somehow, based on actual on teh field results, I have to believe that auburn is pretty low on pruitt's list of worries.

If Chris Davis, the man responsible for the Kick Six, had not got his lunch eaten by Kelvin Benjamin, then Auburn would've won the national championship.

I find it ironic how the same guy responsible for Auburn getting in the title lost it for them on pretty much the last play of the game.

Pruitt certainly will have more toys to play with, the last time he had this type of talent he led FSU to the top ranked D in the land. If you look at the past 3 drafts UGA has not been loaded like most folks think, Leonard Floyd was a elite talent on that side of the ball and of course went top 10 to the Bears.

Yep, basically Pruitt would have to give birth to the mother of all choke jobs to not field an elite defense at Bama this year.

Davis should've never been put in that situation in the first place though. There were multiple blown chances to put that game away before that play.

If any one player deserves any kind of blame it's probably Cody Parkey. If our kicker that went on to make he Pro Bowl as a rookie in the NFL had simply not been hung over I think that would've made the difference. He spent his whole career before that game booting kickoffs through the endzone, but in that game when he was hung over I don't think one kickoff even went into the endzone and FSU returned one for a TD and that was probably the single biggest momentum shift in FSU's favor the whole game.

That's the story of Pruitt's entire career. Even Hoover HS was loaded with defensive talent during his tenure there, a lot of which ended up at Bama.
