I am basically arguing for a higher level of deception about who you are substituting and what plays you are going to run than now. Heck maybe even sign kids up for acting lessons so they can do "fake out" subs (where a group stops at the very last minute to cause confusion).

Sounds lovely.

Was your point really that unique? I'll answer for you: No.

Why ask the question if you are just going to answer it for me?

So the huge advantage of the HUNH is that defensive coaches cannot analyze the plays coming at them and call correct counter plays for each lineup. Instead they have to depend on the player knowing what to do in a short period, which is a disadvantage. So why not protest and refuse to huddle?

Because that's dumb.

Is this another one of those 'this won't really change anything' threads? Because if it won't really change anything there's no need for a rule.

Additionally, once the precedent is set that these coaches can dictate offensive performance, it becomes 'can't snap the ball for 13 seconds' a couple years down the road. frick that precedent.

Let the offense dictate pace of play while they're on offense. Leave well enough alone.

No there have to be changes. I am just saying mitigate what is lost from the HUNH by these rule changes by increasing the practice of deception at games.

Soccer and basketball have flopping. Time for football to play some smoke and mirrors when it comes to hiding as much as possible from the defensive coaches. Dance around, make lines and wave patterns like a band. Do whatever it takes to increase on-field confusion.

Sure these things have been tried before, but I am saying go over the top.

That is all you had to say to begin with if that is how you feel.

I don't think Saban realizes that this rule won't help him very much.

I'm sure you're right. The dumbass probably hasn't thought it through at all.

Because Saban wants to sub at will on D. That's what he is gunning for.

That's the root of the problem.

Situational defensive substitutions have been allowed to run amok. The HUNH is the counter to it.

Exactly. Now that the HUNH is dying the only other counter-balance is trying to hide what the situation is.
