Nobody wants headhunting. We just don't want there to be a 15 yard penalty because the defender's hand grazes the QB's helmet slightly.

Will make the big Q - was he a runner or a passer?

Good luck getting that call if you are a running qb at all.

(3) It is not a foul if the defender is not rushing unabated or is blocked or fouled into this opponent.

essentially you can't just spear or roll up on them low. You can still tackle them low.

This is the way I read it

Aaron Murray's hit would have been legal under this rule? He was running to tackle db. after he threw int.

So basically the last hit that Nick Fairley put on Murray in 2010 would have been a foul under the new rule.

He was not blocked into him but his momentum carried him into his knee. That was when Ben Jones attacked and started the big fight.

Seems to have been a problem for Auburn d linemen since 2009 or so.

Auburn needs to condition their linemen so they do not fall down and roll from exhaustion into the QB.

just another overly complex rule that officials will more often times than not fuk up royally.

these guys have a hard enough time correctly calling the basic rules that have been in place for 100 years... now more of this sh*t.

Yes, really.

Every Auburn game shows a dlinemen trying to roll under a QB or spear their knee, if it isn't being taught then it is a strange coincidence.

It would help clarify the issues you are both addressing if one of you would post a youtube video link and we could all comment on your statements as related to the link, instead of a Memory we may have

Not gonna ask for a link when it is so obvious.

give us some credit, sometimes we step on their legs requiring them to go to the locker room for stitches, allowing the mentally challenged backup QB to come in and immediately start giving away the game...

Is it common enough for qbs to get knee or ankle injuries resulting from low sacks to warrant a rule change?

There must be an ulterior motive. Saban doing work.

I looked for a gif but could not find one.

Basically NF hit Murray at his knee with the crown of his head after the ball was released. His momentum carried him into AM and he was looking down so he could not see what he was hitting. No flag was thrown but it seems that this rule would change that.

It's called a joke so I'm not sure I'm the one who's not quite over it.

If I wanted to grow up, I wouldn't be here would I?

Yup.

Every game.

Ever played since 2009.

Because there has only been one DL coach at Auburn in that time frame. Hence, same technique taught to every player.
