The talk about ratings being down.

Just wondering how the are calculating all the viewers watching at NYE parties instead of at home. Doesn't that skew the numbers.

Most people watch Jan 1 games at Home.

So where as you might have 10 tvs last year watching all those eyes could be at the same party watching. And what about the 100,00 watching from Times Square?

Yes it skews the numbers but you can bet your arse that they will move the playoff games next year.

it's dumb that they let the rose bowl control when the playoff games are played.

Also didn't help to start the first game mid afternoon for many parts of the country. While many people were still at work.

And last year, don't forget the games took forever.

These are a bunch of clowns running this stuff. But they make so much money, what's the incentive to do it well? They can do a good job or a bad job, it doesn't matter - they still make millions.

Think a lot of folks watched the game but weren't counted also. Every bar we hit in Nashville was full of people watching the games. Same for bars at restaurants. We went back to Loews hotel after an early dinner and that bar was full of folks watching Bama-MSU. Cleared out when game got out of hand.

New Year's Eve game... Not near as many folks sitting home watching it on their own TV

It's not just the Rose, the Sugar Bowl won't relinquish their slot either. When you own the rights to the time slots, there is nothing anyone can do.

The committee either allows the Rose and Sugar to televise the semi's every year or you get horrible ratings on NY eve.

Or... you can be like:

Hey.. be slot flexible or we'll need 2 new bowls as playoff partners.

I just thin that probably the same people watched, but not all the tvs were on. And that's hard to guess. But it gives TV (ESPN) leverage in negotiating.

They should just move the peach and fiesta next year to the 2nd which is Monday
