What is tRant's thoughts on implementing a 3rd place game for the College Football Playoff system.
It would follow the lead of the world cup, in which after semi-finals, the two winners duke it out for first place and the 2 losers shamefully battle it out for 3rd place.
This is how it was in the world cup:
As you can see, Brazil got hammered by the Germans, and the Netherlands lost to Argentina. So Germany and Argentina played for the world cup while the Netherlands and Brazil played for 3rd place title.
Should we do the same in College football?
- It would mean more football to watch
- It would declare a true 3rd best team
- It would mean more money for the teams and cities hosting it
So... Consider this College Football Playoff scenario presented in the image below
Assume the Ole Miss Rebels handle Bob Stoops and his Sooners the way an SEC team should, and the Oregon Ducks narrowly defeat the Alabama Crimson Tide.
In this scenario, Ole Miss and Oregon would advance to the championship game, where Cody Prewitt would decapitate Mariota and the Rebels will win the Championship.
In this scenario, THE 3rd place game would be between the Oklahoma Sooners would face the Alabama Crimson Tide.
In theory the 3rd place game would be played the day before the National Championship. I always like to see more football, so I would enjoy it thoroughly. In this scenario we would also have a chance for the SEC to show it's supremacy over another conference, assuming Bama can handle OU.
Thoughts?

Horrible idea. Nobody even likes the World Cup 3rd place game.
When teams have nothing to play for, the game sucks, and you just hope nobody is injured.

I am a lifelong Bama fan, married to a Brazilian for 20 years. My two great sports loves are Bama football and the Selecao (Brazil's national soccer team).
Thank you for fricking up my day with this thread.

Used to do this with NCAA basketball final four years ago. Really sucked. Got really low ratings. Teams did not want to be a part of it.

Thatwas way too much effort for whatever funny you were heading for.

On a serious note, this is true. I Enjoyed it though because I got to see another game, especially since I'm a Netherlands fan and it was good to see them get one more win after the semi-finals loss.
