Saban, because we're not winning jack with anything less than the best available coach this year. Also, Saban has proven he can make do with an average quarterback willing to work in his system. Les and Bret would also be good choices if Saban isn't available because Texas snatched him away. As I understand it, he's constantly making secret googly eyes at them.

What we need is someone who can impose enough discipline to overcome, to some measurable extent, the talent disparity between us and most of the rest of the SEC. Saban and Bret would be preferred. Les isn't a taskmaster, but he can do a decent job of setting the philosophy and allowing the assistants to run it. Mullen might work, but, frankly, his performance with MSU, while occasionally impressive, hasn't been impressive enough for me to believe he'd do just as good with even less talent than Mississippi State has.

Coach Mason is actually a good fit for what I'm talking about here, so I'm reasonably content that he's our coach. But Saban would be better, obviously.

Gus from AU. We have a few decent backs this year, Maty Mauk is fairly mobile, but the wideouts are unproven. Gus is one of (if not the) best offensive minds in the country.
