Something is seriously wrong with this guy. He denounces the University of Arkansas because he lives near there and no one remembers him and they won't hire him to coach there. This is borderline scary stuff, depressed much?

First off OP, the last four topics you've started have been links to that rinky dink website.

Second, I remember Hillis on the Madden cover back in the day.

Didn't listen, but it's no surprise. Arkansas has been through so many coaches and failed teams since he was there. They have shown no commitment to trying to win. Can't attract good coaches or players anymore. Lost 8 straight to Aggy. Can't get much worse than that. Times are tough for the poor little piggies. Keep your head up brother.

Still one of the most bizarre cover choices ever.

“(Arkansas) doesn’t mean a lot to me now honestly.” Hillis stated during the interview. “They’re not going back to their roots, they’re not getting any Arkansas guys that actually care about the university.”

There are two ways to look at this, IMO.

One major thing Saban did when he first arrived was doing away with all of the influence that "Alabama guys" had on the athletic administration prior to his arrival. (Auburn arguably still needs to do this.)

Another thing Saban (and to some extent Nate Oats) has done is open the door for former players and other ambassadors of the program to come back and feel welcome.

So yes, getting "Arkansas guys" around the program is important, but there probably doesn't need to be a bunch of well-meaning boosters running roughshod over the day-to-day either.

Former players don't want to give effort of being a fan anymore if: a.) the team just flat isn't performing well anymore, and more importantly b.) they're not invited back with open arms like they should be after busting their arse for no money while the coaches and administrators made millions off of them.

This is an issue you see at multiple programs across different sports when new coaching regimes begin. Texas basketball has gone through the same thing.

In the Rick Barnes era, the program made a name for itself with all of the nba-caliber talent that played there. And they would come back and workout and play pickup in Austin with the team all of the time during the NBA offseason.

Now that Shaka's there, he has basically disassociated himself with every nba player coached by Barnes other than KD, and that's probably only because he gave a big donation to the school a few years ago.

Plus, Shaka has sucked so nobody wants to come back and cheer for a losing team

This is some Matt Luke "Mississippi Made" bullshite and is a good reason he's not a coach. Who the frick cares if they love the university? If they're good, get them on campus and win games. I don't care if they think the campus is beautiful or love the teachers

Just another example of why I'm not sure if I want football to come back or not. Too many entitled people thinking the world should bow at their feet because they can run fast and lift heavy weights.

Part of me is rooting for these guys to have to try to make it in the real world.

With all the hits he took i wouldn't be surprised if he is dealing with some early signs of CTE. Dude was a truck.

This. Arkansas might be the most provincial state in the country.
