You are a hell of a lot smarter than I am. I got pulled over and had to do the field sobriety tests and failed 3 out of 5 and I wasn't close to being near the limit. I drove away laughing how freaking bad I did.

I couldn't say the alphabet backwards at noon, with nothing to drink for days, much less at 2:00 am with a beer or two in me, and 3 cops shining their spotlights on me.

this pinkel/petrino argument is retarded- no one should drink and drive but i would imagine that the bulk of us here have that's enough for me. pinkel wasn't dumb enough to hire his bottle of liquor- they aren't the same.

anyway, i'm glad bobby p apologized. i personally think he needed to do so considering the first one was more of an oh shite i got caught me sowwy. this one seems a little more meaningful- wish him the best wherever he ends up.

you have to focus.

I was actually a pretty dang good drunk driver, but I had a death wish. 3 single car crashes out in the country on curvy arse Arkansas roads at .20+ bac. You know you need to stop and sleep it off, you know you need to slow down, you know you need to change...but you can't. You just mash the gas harder, go faster, drive in the opposite lane with the headlights off, you push it to all limits and somehow survive to do it again the next day or next weekend.

Cheat death enough times and it becomes a norm and a normal way of life. I feel that Petrino had a bit of that mentality. Live in Fayetteville for 4 years and you'll crave some extra excitement in life.

About the same. Hot. Counting the time until I'm off work. Driving thru Oklahoma this weekend. Wondering if we'll see the fires that are raging out there?

God I hate toll roads.

Long is a smart man. Bobby's contract was huge, almost too big. He had a friggin 20 million dollar buyout for crying out loud. Jeff wanted to get out from under that contract, and he's done that. Now Bobby is pulling a mea culpa on Sportscenter and is still in daily contact with the players and coaches. There is definitely some smoke here.

Daily contact? I've seen one report where BP called some of his former players. How do you know he's in daily contact with the staff & players. And why in the hell would Long allow that to happen?

Pinkel's blood alcohol level was over the legal limit to operate a vehicle. You know why those limits are in place, right? Because it has been medically and scientifically proven that it will impair a driver's motor functions and reaction time.

I disagree with the bolded part. The legal limits are fairly arbitrary things which vary from location to location and they are adjusted when someone wants to claim they are tough on drunk drivers. If you look at different states around the country there is a lot of variability from state to state

I would be more inclined to regard Pinkel as a scumbag if he had a second incident of being pulled over but his one time incident with a relatively low BAC (not something higher like a .15 etc) looks like a one time thing which is out of character for him. I have at least mixed feelings on defending anyone who gets pulled over for an elevated BAC though. I know a couple people who died to drunk drivers (when the drivers were roaring drunk).

And none of this was really on the topic of the thread anyway. Petrino has been a pretty scummy character for his entire football life as best I can tell - it will be interesting to see how successful he is at rehabilitating his image in the media after a pretty disastrous six months.

Agreed. He's saying all the right things: "Petrino said he and Becky are in counseling", "That's not how I was raised. That's not how I raised my children. I take responsibility for it and I am really sorry. I have played it over and over in my head a million times. How could I do this? How could this happen? And not just the hiring. Or that day. But my actions, my behavior -- for months it was just wrong."

He will be back, and I wouldn't even be surprised if it was in the SEC.

Why would you be concerned what someone else does if it doesn't effect you? The only problem at all was the fact that he hired her.
