What exactly attracts AU "grads" to P'cola?
Proximity, more than anything else. Reasonably affordable, fairly safe city with a lot to offer.

Plus I hear they have beaches.

I've lived in P'cola for 25 years and I'd say you're pretty close. FSU should get !0% of Fla's, 5% of Ala.'s and 10% from all the others.

LSU does have a radio affiliate there.

I think 20 percent is feasible.

Florida/florida state-40
Bama-30
Auburn-20
Others-10

It has a makeup of Bama fans similar to Jacksonville with UGA fans.

Growing tourism trade (AU has a pretty good hospitality program), several large, well-respected medical facilities (lots of backoffice jobs for business/IT grads), and a recent large upswing in building projects (architects, engineers, etc).

Helps that a successful entrepreneur and businessman has invested a significant chunk of his >$300 million net worth in the town. If you haven't visited Pensacola in the last 10 years or so you would be impressed in how much it's changed for the better.

I'm in the cesspool of UF, FSU and UGA fans. Auburn is surprisingly the fourth largest fanbase, judging by all the car stickers and tags I've seen. I have met a few LSU and Bama fans.

You must be referring to Quint and Rishy Studer. There's a movement toward a newcomer crowd in regard to the power structure in the town. They are more aggressive in promoting the city.

Seems right, at least from my experience. I'm rolling with this.

Yep. Nice folks, had an opportunity to chat with Quint a few times.

So far I'm on board with what they're doing. I don't want us to grow too much too quickly, however, as many other FL towns have in the past.
