what OL issues. we have a lot of depth and talent on the OL. And yeah he played DL because we had little depth there and he was too athletic to keep on the bench, no he didn't get moved to fill a hole, OT is his natural position.

Primarily at Offensive Tackle is where I'm looking at. Jason Watkins and Phil Trautwein both needed to be replaced before the season, and many people recognized that the Florida offensive line could possibly be a weak link to their team, even though this was overshadowed by the immense talent returning the team had.

dang, this sucks so bad. this will most definitely factor into the outcome of this game. patchan is a beast and will be sorely missed. yes he's naturally an o-lineman, and he does play on the d-line if necessary (he's that good), and he was also supposed to factor into the te position this year as well.

and the o-line concerns highlighted above were probably b/c we lost our two starting tackles on the o-line from last year, so that was a possible concern coming into this year. i think we'll be fine and hope he can redshirt and recover, but losing a motor like patchan definitely hurts

don't know. i think we are pretty deep when it comes to the interior linemen, so i'm not really sure who will step up, or if someone will slide outside to tackle. my best guess is that carl johnson will move to one of the tackles (gilbert on the other side), and either james wilson or mo hurt will step up at one of the guards (2 pouncies taking up the other guard and center), unless robey steps up at center and the pouncies play the two guards??

The article linked by the OP:

Patchan tears ACL, out for season

By Edward Aschoff
Correspondent

Florida coach Urban Meyer announced that offensive lineman Matt Patchan tore his ACL in non-contact drills on Tuesday.

After practice on Wednesday, Meyer said that Patchan would apply for a medical redshirt.

Offensive coordinator Steve Addazio stated that Mike or Maurkice Pouncey could replace him if necessary.

Patchan backs up starting left tackle Carl Johnson.

It clearly says he is a backup not a starter, so it's not that big of an impact. Why all the fuss? Geez.

BTW, I do hate to see any player suffer serious injury and hope he has a full speedy recovery.

Yeah but starter is a loose term the way we rotated our OL.

I hear ya. Not saying it's trivial, by any means, but it's not like losing a Dont'a Hightower, for example.

I bet he's not even really hurt...Meyer is just pissed that he's the reason Tebow got injured.

Gators are fine at OL. Patchan never started, came in in cleanup, from what I remember.

LSU should be concerned about UF's defensive line.

That'd be funny, but it wasn't his knee that Tebow hit. It was Marcus Gilbert's.
