Madden: harfharfharf I don't think he got there
He was on The Madden games until he retired. He and Madden's original payment was in shares of the franchise (the makers didn't have the money to pay them) he sold his shares when he retired not knowing how huge the game would get.

RIP I was fortunate enough to be in my teens when Summerall played in the mid sixties and he was a great player in the NFL. Things were so different then...place kicking and punting were huge and the difference maker in so many games, a real premium was placed on the talent to kick.
Spurrier also was a punter for UF during the mid sixties and folks dont realize that...he is remembered for his FG against AU in 1966 which helped him win the Heisman instead of Bob Griese (Purdue).
Summerall had the smoothest voice and could set the stage for you. He was from Lake City, Fl and played for Arkansas...although his college days were a bit before my teens. Summerall was considered a great kicker and was in the same breath as guys like George Blanda.
May he be calling games up in heaven now.
