Very admirable of Georgia

Coach Richt went and visited him in the hospital as well. I've always liked him.

quote:

"We're trying to cover him up with as much love as we can and let him know that we care and let him know that we're there to help," Richt said.

quote:

Richt said as treatment continues, Gales may need financial help. "If there are needs, if it does come to that, I will call on the Bulldog Nation to get involved," Richt said.

One would think this would be a non-issue for either school.

Good. We need to do as much as we can for that player/family for as long as they need us to, as long as it takes.

And I think we will. Horrible injury.

Classy move by Richt. I wouldn't wish an injury like that on any player from any school

I would think any school would do this, but still amazingly cool.
Props to Richt, and UGA.

Assuming he's talking about medical expenses, are those not covered by the ncaa/school? I would think there's some sort of insurance, but I have no idea.

I believe student athletes are required to have insurance before they enroll. Some schools, however, can insure their own athletes. From what I understand, there is no standard and it's up to each institution. The reality is, the parents are going to rack up some huge medical bills imo (assuming the school does not provide insurance). That's probably what Richt was referencing.

I'd expect nothing less from Mark Richt. They do not make better men.
