As strong as the SEC is in softball, I still think the PAC 12 is considered the elite conference in women's softball. What I have noticed though is the stadiums that the PAC 12 teams play in are dumps compared to the SEC stadiums. It's not even close

:kige:

But they are threatened now as the SEC is the new kid on the block but got up to sped fast enough to get their recruits. I think this causes some real angst out west as they see they may have been first but the sun is already setting in the west as it now rises in the south.

Actually, I would say that the only conference with better overall softball stadiums than the Pac 12 would be the SEC.

Alberta B. Farrington Softball Stadium-ASU

Jane Sanders Stadium-Oregon

Dumke Family Softball Stadium-Utah

That said, the quality of the rest of the conference's stadiums drops sharply after those examples. I was surprised to learn that USC doesn't even have a softball team.

UCLA and Arizona dominate the sport

This will never change no matter how much Oklahoma, Alabama and Florida improve

Never? Times change, no one can match their history given their head start, but they certainly don't dominate the sport at the present moment.

Bluebloods still dominate Football and Basketball for the most part so I don't know why you'd say that.

Say what, that it's not a foregone conclusion UCLA and Arizona will always be the dominant teams? They haven't been the last several years. The landscape is drastically different than it was when those two were dominating softball.

Because just like women's basketball, bigger, richer athletic programs with better facilities and larger fanbases than either UCLA or Arizona are now committed to the sport.

You want to know who is going to have success? Keep an eye on attendance figures. It's a good indication of the level of support a school's program will receive.

If you know the history of women's basketball, at one point smaller schools like Old Dominion and Louisiana Tech were powerhouses.

The West Coast schools had the majority of their success at a point where no other part of the country cared.

That's not the case anymore.

Princeton and Harvard were blue bloods back when most didn't care much about football.
