Well, it just might be Oregon's year.

UCLA looks good. Stanford too.

The rest of the league I'm taking a wait and see attitude on.

But as one coach in the Pac-12 told me this week, "The only way we're going to change the perception that we're the weaker sister to the SEC is to go out and beat them on the big stage."

Pretty much all that needs to be said.

Agree with the first two and we'll see on UCLA

Washington, Arizona St, and Arizona are worthy of top 25 ranking

I really like Washington so far, I'm starting to cool fast on ASU and I think Arizona is nothing special. I agree Washington and ASU should definitely be ranked at this point but seeing how badly Stanford manhandled ASU took a lot of their luster away

Thought maybe, just maybe Stanford took a step back this year after the Army game. Then, boom. They dominated ASU.

Have fun arguing with the village idiot Skullopener. You'll now be labeled as a Duck and Candinal fan.

6/12 teams have shown something. The endurance of the season stretch will show who's who.

You mean in November when they are toward the end of playing 9 conference games while SEC teams are playing the Georgia States, Appalachian States, and Citadels of the country? Yeah, good point.

You are really going to reference Oregon State in this argument? Do you need a reminder of how Kentucky lost to Western KY? How about how Vandy struggled to beat UMASS? Arkansas lost to the University of frickin New Jersey for the second year in a row.

Legit point.

Oregon State is probably second or third worst team in the PAC12.

Let's not get all crazy now. It's a little early to make that declaration. Riley's worst teams have still managed to eek out 3 conference wins so he probably deserves the benefit of the doubt before you lump them in with Colorado and Cal.

The loss to Eastern WA, while embarrassing, is nowhere near as bad as the 2011 loss to Sac State. Riley's issue has always been depth. Offense is solid this year but the defense is thin. No shot at all of beating Oregon this year but if they beat Colorado and Cal they'll have their 3 conference wins and keep on keeping on. OSU is the historical equivalent of Miss State. Nobody ever claimed they were even close to upper tier for the Pac 10/12.

With the success Oregon is having these days the Beavs will have to be happy with breaking .500 and giving everybody on the schedule as much of a scrappy fight as they can. 9 wins or more is going to be rare from here on out.

Do you consider Florida a top tier SEC team? They didn't look too impressive at home vs Tenn. So far, on paper the PAC 12 is a deeper conference top to bottom than the SEC and you could argue that the top 2 teams in the PAC 12 are better than the SEC's 1&2. This may be the year the king is dethroned, and it may not even be a team from the PAC 12.

The Pac 12 is not deeper than the SEC.
Bama, LSU, UGA, A&M are all on the same level as Stanford and ORegon (if not a much higher one), and then after that who is that good from the Pac 12?

UCLA got dominated by Cal last year. Until they show they can win all games against garbage teams they don't deserve to sniff the top 10 at all.

Let's break it down:

Oregon - coaching change has been seamless, Pac 12 schedule will test this staff though
Oregon St - typical Riley team, win some they have no business winning, lose some really bad games
Arizona - Rich Rod offense will always scare some teams but not sure its sustainable in big games
Arizona St - played with Wisconsin and can pull an upset, Graham may actually be a good fit here
UCLA - Mora has them believing, continues to add talent, took two DB's LSU really wanted, this program could rise up and be a force out west
USC - probation is really hurting depth, might as well stay with Kiffin until you can go out and attract a top notch coach, this is another perfect gig for those NFL guys - Del Rio might be a good fit if he wants a head college job
Cal - prolific offense, the LA Tech dropoff shows that this coach will generate excitement and the offense will be prolific
Stanford - if they continue on current pace I don't see how NFL doesn't come calling, Harbaugh developed a nice little coaching tree out there, really good assistant hires by Harbaugh
Washington - Sark may have a decent team this year but they still need some marquee PAC 12 wins and some consistency
Washington St - again, another tough offense to prepare for and Leach will bring some talent in to remote locales
Utah - still adjusting to a tough conference week in week out
Colorado - actually starting to show a little pulse, recruiting will always be difficult for Boulder when Colorado doesn't have a lot of NFL talent
