This is actually incorrect.

Oh right, the dastardly cheating of the textbook 5

WOW. Is Nick Saban undefeated at Alabama? He had a 30-12 record at LSU.

Good point - literally forgot about his LSU time.

You may want to include that since you included Ed Orgeron's record at Ole Miss.

Yep - he is right - I updated it (it only includes regular season games, too, not SECCG).

7. Hugh Freeze (19-21) (48%)
8. Dan Mullen (29-35) (45%)
9. Butch Jones (14-18) (44%)

Interesting to see 7 coaches within 6% of .500. I get the zero-sum reality of this statistic, but I would have expected to see more 65%/35% type of spread.

Obviously, if you spend much time in the >50% range, you probably won't be retained, but I guess I expected some of the longer tenured coaches to have pulled away from .500 a bit.

Yep. Also interesting that #3 and #4 had their highpoints in their first seasons and have been much worse winning % wise over the last 3 years or so. Muschamp another one that is 20-20 mainly because of one 7-1 season. Outside of that, 13-19.

It's like 1 great coach, possibly 2-3 mediocre ones, and a whole trainwreck of awful.

I agree. McElwain is a hell of a coach

When Muschamp is 5th on this list, something is wrong.

Our boy Lyle had his lowest point in season 1(was going to say low point, but they are all pretty low with this guy). 2-6 in SEC play IIRC. He would be at a spectacular .500 otherwise.

I would assume some of the other coaches would be in a similar position as well. First year record at a new school often seems like its a statistical anomaly.

Might be interesting to see the same stats without the first year records.

I am shocked coach Mac and Sumlin are so high . This list is going to make a lot of fan bases mad. I look for Mason , Coach O and Smart to improve their percentages .Sumlin and Muschamp will likely go down.

Sumlin not so shabby considering he brought an undermanned Big 12 squad to the SEC.

Bielema has beat him and McElwain H2H. We all can't be in the East unfortunately.

So is Bret gonna use that as his defense when he gets his review?

With that said, I fully expect y'all to put an arse whoopin' on us this year.
