Will someone that knows the rule please explain why the runner was called for interference. Does the runner have to stay in the outside running lane and not be inside the foul line?

As long as a part of his Body is in line with that line, the call of interference is rarely ever made. For that play, he was completely inside the white line right at the point the interference was made.

Runner was hit with the ball outside of the base path before the fielder had a chance to field it. The rule OU fans are bitching about is returning the runs on a play that they were obviously going to advance on.
