Really good read. I think things could have been different had Vaz not gotten hurt. We'll never know. You have to respect Bama that year for splitting six games with LSU and being right there record wise. That's the thing some of our so-called best fans in college baseball don't understand about baseball. It's not football. One game in baseball isn't an end-all, be-all referendum on a team. To them, LSU loses a midweek game to Tulane in April, and the world ends.

Being a kid/teenager whose life was baseball in the mid-late 90s I absolutely loved watching Alabama (and SEC) baseball. Obviously Alabama was very good, but the league was so much fun and CWS was as good as it got.

No. Not even remotely similar.

If Bama had actually won the SEC ... and then beaten LSU in a Regional in Tuscaloosa...and then beat them again in a Super Regional in Tuscaloosa ... and then the CWS was in Birmingham vice Omaha ... and LSU somehow got "voted" into the CWS ... and then LSU beat Bama by a combined score in the CWS finals of 9-0 ... then that would be about the same.

It's easy to forget that at one point in history Alabama was good at something other than football. Bookmarked for my grand kids.

Alabama split the matchups in 1997 3-3 with LSU. Won the regular season matchup 2-1. But LSU won that Sunday game to win the regular season title. Alabama Lost the first SEC tournament game to LSU. Beat LSU in the tourney title. Lost in Omaha 13-6.

Alabama never got close again to a national title. Was just never the same as they were 1995-1997.

So it is somewhat similar.

Pretty remotely similar. Beat LSU 2 of 3 to end the season. Beat LSU 12-2 to win the SEC Tournament. Best Alabama team of all-time. Beaten soundly in the championship game by LSU, the giant that was consistently in their way from attaining all-time glory for half a decade.

Most of the tRant has a narrative they must keep pushing about Alabama athletics.

Basketball success never happened because Wimp Sanderson and CM Newton was too long ago.

Baseball for the same reasons.

Men's and women's golf, gymnastics, softball, improving swimming/diving and track & field don't count.

I think I covered it all.

Except that LSU had to earn their way into CWS finals fair and square.

I'll bite. 2011 Alabama earned their way into the BCS by being voted the 2nd best team in the country that year. They then went on to prove that they were the best team in the country that year.

Just like Bama did by winning all but one game on their schedule, and then taking care of business in a dramatic fashion when they were lucky enough to not have any other teams that were qualified to go to New Orleans. Damn you come across as an unbelievably miserable twat- sorry about your luck.

Please recap how Bama took care of business in the SEC CG.

Look ... I will concede the similarities ... but, 21-0 is way fricking worse.

I sincerely hope that one day you inbred bastards find out personally.
