I would like to hear everyone's opinions on how the Golson sweepstakes may/has affect(ed) the psyches of the QB's already enrolled at the schools he has talked to and potential team chemistry issues.

I don't think it is a good sign of faith in the QB's that are already on the rosters of the schools courting a QB that spent all of last year completely out of football and has not even thrown a football since his shoulder injury. Not to mention when he was playing he couldn't throw a ball better than Blake Sims or Nick Marshall (2 players that excelled at the QB position with not even being true QB's).

He has spoken with:

Florida - won't tip hat as to intentions
Georgia - won't tip hat as to intentions

Other candidates:

Alabama - don't know if he has spoken with them but it has been reported on ESPN that a source within the program said they would take him if he wanted to come there.
South Carolina - Says they are not interested and haven't spoken with him as of yet.
LSU - Interested or not? Everyone knows the struggles LSU had at QB last year and neither one pulled ahead in the race this spring.

What says tRant?

I'm just happy we aren't in the market for a transfer QB this year!

I wasn't sure if they were or not. I know there was some early talk from fans about it.

I really can't see him at any of the SEC schools to tell you the truth. He folded like cheap suit against the one team (Bama) that he did QB against. I just don't see him surviving a full season of facing SEC D's almost every week.

Florida makes the most sense. They desperately need a QB.

but how tough is it to obtain that SEC waiver for transfer students that have graduated?

bingo, and he has something like 21 turnovers last year. I don't get what all the hype is about. Also, the commissioner has a write a letter of recommendation for him to be able to go to an SEC school since he has already been suspended for an academic violation. Some people don't think Slive will do that in his last few months on the job.

Mcelwain basically said Florida would take him if he wanted to go there. Richt hasn't said they would or wouldn't. Personally, I think it makes sense on paper but the reality would be a cluster frick of team chemistry and turnovers

I agree in principle. However:

So, other than Florida State, nobody has made any public statements about Golson or taken any actions other than two programs speaking with him. I hardly think this demonstrates a lack of faith in their roster - that lack of faith may well be there and the coaches may be saying the rosary for God to send them a decent QB...but that's not happening in public.

That was mentioned in the article on ESPN about Bama. Bama said they will take him, but they do not think the SEC would grant the waiver, especially with the waiver being needed for the clause that goes against getting in trouble at previous university. Although I think this is hypocritical due to the fact that the SEC lets players that have been in trouble jump from school to school within the SEC.

Florida is going to suck next year regardless. However, if they can suck a little less with Golson, you almost have to take him.

What civiltiger said. Much like Jeremiah Masoli at Ole Miss a few years ago, he won't greatly improve whatever team he ends up at. He's nothing special and I have no idea why Bama would even waste their time.

I think what I stated above is the only reason why nothing really has been publicly said by any team involved. Well that and I think that if the teams knew they could get the waiver from the SEC, you would hear them talking more.

I'm indifferent about it. If he comes to UGA and is our best option, I'm all for it. Jacob Eason is our man after this season anyways, and everyone knows it, so I don't really give a shite how the other qb's feel about it.

Meh. I'd take our two QB's in McElwain's system over him.

I agree and I don't think he would be able to stand up to the pounding he would take week in and week out in the SEC. See 2012 NC game for reference and that was just one game.

He probably sees the Alabama roster as impossible to crack, with two Heisman candidates - Coker and Braxton Miller.
