If you want to weed out the sidewalkers, I'd just ask your fellow fans, the REAL Bama fans, to identify her

One loss to Ole Miss isn't going to change a damn thing. If anything, it will make the idiots more vocal. From every fanbase.

News coming from other teams in recent days makes me glad our trash is in the stands and not on the field.

Bad years? Which years were those? The 90's? What happened in 92?
ETA: We need a new rule. You can't complain about a decade in which you won a Championship.

1998-2007, though 99 and 05 weren't awful.

Great post OP. I was a student from '99 to '03 so I know what's it like.
Best thing about Auburn beating us 5 or 6 years in row was a ton of the trash joined Auburn. Unfortunately they came back as soon as we started winning.

It's ROLLIN, Baby!
After enduring the Dubose era, I can handle anything. Losing the game Saturday was like a sensual massage compared to watching us lose 21-0 to USM under Dubose.
There is nothing worse in football than watching your team lose and knowing without a doubt that you will be just as shitty the next week and the coaches are completely incapable of developing the team. Just thinking about it makes me throw up in my mouth. I'd French kiss that Destiny horse every game if it meant keeping Saban instead of Dubose.

Im 27 I did have one NC season as a student in 09. Middle school to sophomore season of college was pretty rough though.

Some of my fondest memories of Bama football were the 05 Florida and Tennessee wins.

Good to see a lot of humbled Bama fans - a rarity these days for any great program. We all take lumps at one point or another so this is just another correction.

Agreed, get sick of some of the Bama posters on here for that.

While I'm certainly willing to admit that the trashiest Bama fans often have little real connection to the school, in my experience, those people are still pretty loyal to the Tide.
I don't think shooting people is characteristic of people on a bandwagon. I think it is characteristic of someone who is essentially in a cult, and people in cults are pretty damn loyal.

1 loss won't thin the herd. You'd need another Shreveport trip to start doing some damage.

More Alum fans than Auburn. We also have more of the crazies than Auburn. Domination.

bamafan1001......can I use your post and say ditto for LSU?

I made that trip from Mobile. That, unfortunately, was the highlight for me from '99 to '03 (was a pledge in '99 so didn't get to enjoy it) It's amazing reading BOL and seeing "fans" calling for the coaches heads and saying this was "the worst Bama loss I've ever seen"...pisses me off to no end

quote:Those years sucked, but weren't as bad as DuBose's 2000 season. 3-8 is fun, fun, fun, especially when the coach is claiming he's talking to Jesus in the bushes and whatnot.
I was there during the bad years. I sat in the stadium 1-2 hours early to get a good seat just to watch Bama lose to teams like La Monroe, Northern Illinois etc.

I Agree completely. Success breed arrogance. The good fans are the ones that support their team through the down times. With all that said Bama isn't in a down time. the fans will jump back on why they should be in the playoffs this saturday. Takes more than one loss to get the bandwagoners off. If they dont get to the playoffs then it might get interesting. The sad part is I feel the same way about the LSU fans. I had my best memories when we were on the rise in the early 2000's. That was a fun time. Now its 50% bandwagoners who only support when we win big. I hope a handfull of people that sit around me at games decide to leave.
