Talk about week 1 overreaction.

Maybe he figured FSU was the top 10ish team with the best win in the country.

Hard to argue. They looked like the best team in week 1.

If it was a power ranking, then sure. How could anyone besides FSU be #1?

These polls aren't (or at least never have been really, especially in week 1) a power poll. UGA is the back to back defending national champion taht began the year #1 and won by 41. There's no way you drop them just because FSU looked good.

Fortuantely, it's just one numbskull and he doens't speak for everyone. And as always, polls generally have a way of sorting themselves out once more games are played. If FSU is truly a #1 caliber team they'll earn it eventually.

That is playoff poll logic that has no place in this poll. Such logic made vols #1 for 4 days

I mean FSU played and beat much tougher opponent, I don’t mind them being rewarded.

It's going to be a real shame when that one writer's vote keeps UGA out the SEC championship game and playoff.

Somehow McMurphys ballot is pretty bad but astonishingly isn’t even the worst in the graphic

Agree, but this guy gets a vote all year long. And late season these kind of voters can swing rankings just enough. The playoff committee looks at rankings to help.

One example is LSU/FSU and Clemson/Duke. He gave Duke a big bump for beating Clemson but then dropped Clemson way down. He then gave FSU a big bump to top but didn’t drop LSU way down (not nearly as much as Clemson, even tho LSU got thumped worse). His rankings are all over the map.

And you cannot drop the prior year champs from 1 when they won big.

Florida State looked pretty physical to me and looking at body of work in 2023 I wouldn’t say he is necessarily wrong

Idc. I kinda wish the polls were more sensitive to wins and losses. FSU looked the best this past weak, that’s just reality.

TBH, if the CFP released rankings, how they normally do based on who you’ve beaten and lost to; it’s hard to argue that FSU wouldn’t be number 1, they have the best win so far.

There isn’t a lot to go off yet.

I’d would not do any rankings till the first Monday in October.. however I understand TV needs rankings to promote Prime games.

The AP poll is completely meaningless and swings nothing related to the CFB playoff rankings.
