He did not. I originally spelled superintendent wrong.

I'm not offended by the Sherman joke due to anything that happened during the Civil War, I'm offended by the corniness of it. The "HURR, SHERMAN BURNED GEORGIA HURR" has been done into the ground.

Legitimate gripe. The only reason I did it was because of his connections to LSU.
Otherwise, it wouldn't really make any sense.

ITT: Rednecks get righteous about shite that doesn't affect them.
That Pharoah was a real bad guy! He wouldn't let the Jews go!

Dammit the urge for a Katrina joke is strong. I know chicken will hit me with the banhammer though.

So blacks have no reason to be sensitive about slavery, correct?

Ironic that General Sherman was/is held in such high esteem by LSU.
I mean, despite his fame as our first superintendent, he was still a scalawag that defected to the union...and the very roots of our mascot is rooted in the confederacy.

Not too many people would claim a monster, got to hand it to LSU fans.

In contrast, one of our earliest Presidents was a patriot who fought against the invaders.

Monster=The One Military Leader capable of marshaling Union strategic advantages in areas as varied as food, supplies, ammunition, and sheer manpower and crush the South's will to continue the single bloodiest conflict in terms of casualties as a percentage of the our nation's population in our entire History.
Fought for no other reason than a bunch of Fire-Eating Bigots hid behind terms like Popular Sovereignty while seceding from their own country not for taxation without representation but the question of whether they could continue their antiquated, agrarian-style economy built on the backs of treating human beings as property and cattle.
Anyone with opposable thumbs and a smattering of common sense knows Sherman references are meaningless by comparison...
LOL @ the Jimmy Rustlage in here...

The most surprising thing about this thread is that many of you dumb motherf*****s know what the original poster is talking about. And that makes me dumber than most of you all because I had to learn it from y'all. I should go jump off a bridge now (I'm sure I learned it along the way, but forgot it like most things).
By the way, I'm from New Orleans and was a refugee during Katrina. Y'all can joke about Katrina all you want to. I don't care - I'm still alive motherf******!

your knowledge of history is lacking. sherman was not a scalawag. he was an officer in the united states army and he did not defect anywhere. he was not a louisianian. also, while he was not a well liked individual he was a brilliant one and the only one with an actual workable plan to integrate the slaves into the mainstream. he had experimental farms for them in south carolina and they were self sufficient and not needing government support. the plan got the kibosh BY THE NEW ENGLAND TEXTILE barons as they wanted and received, in conjuntion with the surviving plantation owners, the slaves to be "hired" as employees on the very same plantations they used to be slaves at. in short, say what you want about sherman but he shortened the war and he was a patriot of the united states of america.
