Honestly, it's because the newer generation of LSU fans don't see Ole Miss as a rival. They look at Auburn and Bama as more of their rivals. OM had a spell of several years where they were a mirror image of Vanderbilt. Maybe if OM becomes a consistent 10-win team they will be considered a rival again.

Politics. It would really go a long way toward our education budget to consolidate some or drop them to two-year, but sadly, it will just never happen.

A post by an earlier board member hit the nail on the head. To new generation LSU fans, LSU and Ole Miss are not rivals. Ole Miss has exactly 1 season with 10 wins (2003) since Johnny Vaught was their coach. New school LSU fans don't know who the hell Johnny Vaught was. Ole Miss has been irrelevant for so long that even though they are competing with us hard lately, it hasn't sunk in yet to the LSU fans. I personally have been an LSU fan for 40 years and love the LSU vs Ole Miss game just like Bama and Auburn games but to the younger fans, they don't see it as relevant. Too many more azz whoopins like they gave us last year will get the young folks attention. We get them at Death Valley this year and im looking for some payback.
