I am resigning as the President of the LSU First Coast Alumni Association.

The work and the time invested this season have been made miserable by the events that have happened, and I am just not wired to invest so much of my time into a group that would sit back and watch people act classless and rude. Last night, there was a guest of one of the members of the association that was an Ole Miss fan. That is not a big deal. We have had many guests from other teams. But the "rules" of the game should be that the guest is respectful of the group. In fact, I have even had a guest that I asked to leave because he could not be respectful. We are all there because we are LSU fans and want to watch the game together in a fun, family friendly environment. But that was not the case with this man, who was rude, classless, cursing in front of everyone and generally making the group uncomfortable. Several of you spoke to me about it, and some just left because of him. I spoke privately to the member and asked him to speak to his guest. I joking and seriously said different things in front of the whole group, but the behavior persisted. When I had enough and went to get my check so I could leave, I passed by him and he said something inappropriate to me. Fine, I can handle myself. Obviously, the rest of the group expected me to handle myself all throughout the season when I was called names for not letting people play pool in our space or let people change the channels in our space while all of you heard it and said nothing. But last night, when I left the room, this man turned on my CHILD. And those in attendance just stood there and let him. Anyone else brings their children, I go out of my way to ensure that they are taken care of, but my child was left to defend herself to a grown man who has no home training or manners. That is the last straw for me.

So, thank you! Thank you for giving me my Saturdays back. And I KNOW that this group will be just fine without me. GEAUX, TIgers!
