In 2013, the state of Mississippi ratified the 13th on 1/30/2013.

I just want to say that, like Sam Cunningham dominating Alabama 40 years before, sometimes sports can influence politics. I am glad that Hugh Freeze could do his part in bringing Mississippi into the current year.
