He is obviously well known and respected by the NCAA, media, and public in general. He has regularly appeared in studio college football telecasts and was even a member of the first CFP committee. If Ole Miss were to eventually aknowledge systemic issues within their athletic department, would Ole Miss appointing Archie as an athletic program czar to investigate wrongdoing and initiate an overhaul of the athletic department buy them any good grace and leniency from the NCAA?

Or, is this even an option? I believe I recall him being heavily involved in the coaching search that brought Freeze in? Also, do you think him stepping down from the CFP committee last year was an indication he got wind of the wrongdoing and wisely backed away?

Bottom line, I think he is a valuable asset for Ole Miss and could potentially save the day for them, however, not sure if that is an option at this point.

Archie is like the lobbyist that goes to all the boosters and acquires the funds that pays for the cheating. When they got rid of Nutt, they got Archie to lead the charge to bring back the glory days reminiscent of his time. When rich white OM alums controlled the "black boy." These were his instructions. Do what he can to get them "boys" to play football for OM. Modernize the racism to benefit the program. If they want girls, have the alums convince there daughters that it's there duty to help the program. If players need drugs(spice), get it for them. Along with party rooms in local hotels to avoid trouble. If players jump out of windows to evade the law, well just pay somebody and make it go away. Archie is almost like the godfather of the new OM klan.

It depends on what rapport Archie has with an infractions committee member. It possibly could help. Not sure.

The problem with Ole Miss is not what they did but how they did it. The investigation into SMU began with simply people asking the question "how did you get so good so fast"? Programs that have been around 100 years usually don't get noticed when they turn things around. When your history says you are a 7-8 win team and all of sudden you are going to major bowls EVERY year and signing the Eric Dickerson's of the world, it's gonna get attention. You gotta build this gradually. Ole Miss alums got tired of being 8-4 and playing in Memphis or Shreveport come bowl season. Caution was thrown to the wind and Freeze is a master of working benefits. I still believe it's THE sole reason he got the job. He knew how to play the bene's game and Ole Miss had him in their backyard. In the end this will be the last high profile job he ever has.

LOL. When was Ole Miss consistently 8-4?

They've just now peaked at 9 wins per season.

Ummmmm, I'm not sure the NCAA is going to allow an active booster like Manning to watch the hen house. He's not all that pure, and the NCAA knows this.

Archie is smart enough that he won't touch this situation with a 10 foot pole.

Why would he risk his reputation?

In 2005, Ole Miss hired Freeze as an assistant athletic director for football external affairs.

What exactly are "football external affairs"?
