I just never saw it. I always considered Louisville, Cincy and SLU the rivals when I was there. Maybe there was just so much apathy toward Tiger football.

I don't remember those shirts. I do remember the bumper stickers around town of "I was there" for the win they had over UT.

Memphis is a two bit city college with a basketball team. OM and memphis have played enough games in football over the years that if something were to develop it would have by now. The series was put on hold when Calipari wouldn't schedule OM to come in to the Fedex forum. No reason to prop up their crappy football program with even a 2 for 1 in football if they want to shut OM out of "hoop city"

LOL. I wonder if any of those survived to the Nutt years. Granted by then, Memphis was just horrible again after D. Williams was gone.

I was there at the UT game. I can't tell you how drunk the entire student section was after that one.

Memphis football has always been terrible, and I think they just looked at playing SEC teams as their Super Bowl.

That's prolly due all the different SEC fans in Memphis. Memphis is certainly an SEC city with a C-USA team. I would say kind of like New Orleans, but there just aren't enough Tulane fans here. I moved back over 4 years ago, and have met ONE Tulane fan.

That explains why I never saw them. Other than flying through the airport for BBQ, I haven't been back to Memphis since 2000. Wish I had the time to make the trip when I was in Tunica/Oxford for the LSU game 2 years ago.

I remember those damn shirts. I use to have a 5 minute video of me lighting one on fire and swinging it around my head while I yelled "we busted a nutt all over your face".... It was my sophomore year, don't judge me

If they were in a real conference, cared about athletics as a whole, and stopped being a commuter school, the possibility could exist.

Other than that, not really. We have literally nothing in common with Memphis.

I hope you didn't have pay. That was just some awful football. It looked like niether offense actually wanted to hold on to ball long enough to even punt. I wonder how many total turnovers there were.

I unfortunately was in attendance as well. I was 9 years old but I remember the cursing of my dad and grandad very well. Still probably the most miserable game I've ever been to.

As far as the OP, meh you could sorta say that. I know I personally dislike Memphis fans and root against them in basketball, I don't really care about their football team though. That's how the "rivalry" goes, OM fans act like they're too good to discuss football with Memphis fans, and Memphis fans act like they're too good to discuss basketball with OM fans.

When they beat us twice in a row in football 10 years ago they were some of the biggest shite talkers I've ever encountered, way worse than even State fans. It would be pretty surprising if you weren't from the area.

Something that my dad has always said and I haven't seen anything to prove him wrong is "the Memphis fanbase is the ugliest(physically) collection of people in the country." It's fairly upsetting to be around a big group of them, all short and fat trolls.
