Two excited fan bases both hoping their teams make a jump to the next level. Ole miss going from 7-8 wins to 10 or more and competing for an SEC title and Tennessee from 5-6 wins to 7-8 wins and competing in the east.

A problem I see with both teams is a lack of a running game. I'm not saying you have to run the ball to Auburn's extreme or do it as successfully as Alabama and LSU do it on a regular basis or how Georgia is doing it now, but I am a believer that you need to be able to line up and run it successfully and at least be able to run it down sun belt/mountain west or worse (Vanderbilt) caliber teams throats.

Neither of those teams have shown they can do that and I don't think relying on mediocre at best QB's to carry your team is going to lead to much success in either teams big games.

Worley slinging it around the yard against Utah St and Arky St looks all fun in the short term but I would be shocked if that's successful against Oklahoma and solid to good SEC opponents.

Same goes for Bo Wallace slinging it around against Boise and Vandy. He may still pile up some yards against better competition but I would be surprised if he isn't a turnover machine.

I also think with both lines being questionable and no running games to respect both teams will have a very hard time protecting their QB's and giving them any kind of time in the pocket come SEC play with teams knowing they are one dimensional.

Vols schedule is a train wreck for an experienced team. With as many freshman as Butch is playing, gonna be lightning in a bottle. However, later in the season, they could give some people a run for it.

Next year, i think UT is gonna be a factor. Not sure what to make of OM yet.

UT is a year or so behind Ole Miss, but if both schools continue to cheat in recruiting, they will be factors in their division for the foreseeable future.

i agree with your statement about tennessee...but ole miss still has a stought d-fence to keep games close even if bo turns the ball over

That's a very good point. If Ole Miss can't get the run game going, it'll be hard to take the next step.

Ole Miss isn't asking Bo Wallace to put the team on his back. They are asking him to play within himself and to get the ball into the hands of his playmakers. The expectation is that we're going to rely on our defense to win big games. So far they look up to it.

I'm pretty amazed as well as Ole Miss has recruited lately they haven't been able to bring in a big time between the tackles 3 down running back considering it may be the easiest position to recruit.

I know Ole Miss wants to rely on their defense to win games but offensively they do rely almost entirely on Bo to make plays. Even with Treadwell being the featured play maker Bo still has to get him the ball. There's no consistent running game to fall back on or ride for awhile. I would suspect 3rd and shorts are going to be a real problem.

Even with relying on the defense Ole Miss will have to score points to beat Auburn, Texas A&M, and probably Alabama if they get their QB situation figured out and find their identity on offense which I think they will with Sims.

I got it made the big boss of the north, ain't shite changed I still represent Swisha House.

Edit: decent post and I don't disagree. But we all know UT's line is an issue...not necessarily the game plan. It's been discussed several times, Dooley fricked us by skipping a recruiting cycle in regards to O linemen.

Auburn and A&m don't have defenses we can't score on.

Tennessee averaging 3.3 yards a carry against Utah St and Arkansas St is down right scary. That's why I can't buy into this Tennessee is much improved and looking at competing this year stuff.

I just don't see Worley throwing it all over the place having any kind of success against Oklahoma, Florida, or Alabama. And even Georgia with a suspect secondary will be bringing a big time pass rush with Leonard Floyd and others if they don't have a running game to worry about.

I would imagine teams will take away the dink and dunk stuff. Specifically the bubble screen game. Maybe shade a safety towards North (Won't need him for run support) so he doesn't get many if any 1 on 1 deep balls where he can make a crazy acrobatic catch. Tennessee will either have to get the ball down field a little to other receivers or be able to run the ball into a regular front.

Bo Wallace looked absolutely terrible against a mediocre Auburn defense last year. The lack of any kind of running game had the DE's pinning their ears back applying all kinds of pressure on him. Nothing has changed this year in regards to the offense besides Moncrief is gone and Treadwell is even better.

Since I looked up Tennessee's I checked on Ole Miss and they are averaging 3 yards a carry against Boise and Vandy.

Vandy sucks. We all know. You didn't have to repeat it.
