I'd ask if you were raised in a barn, but I understand not all Mississippians are that well-off.

I have spent a significant amount of time in College Station (an entire afternoon) and allow me to say it's literally just a bigger Starkville

I was talking to Gradual Stroke more than you, I saw you answers and you were fine IMO.
Bias of course, but that's how I would be as well.
As to DC ... he's a loose cannon, sorry.

CS can sometimes come off as crappy to visitors, esp from the South, because it is not very interesting topography and our campus has some nice parts but overall isn't very attractive. It's a great town though.
If you are in college there are 53k college students, one of the lowest costs of living in Texas, and a ton to do. The town is built around serving the school and the people who work there but there are still over 225k in the Metro. It's also incredibly centralized at just an hour from Houston, an hour and a half to Austin, and about 3 hours to the Coast, D/FW, or San Antonio.
If you are married with kids its a great town. Lots of jobs. Low cost of living. Lots of fun and cheap stuff to do with all of the things focused around the school. Certainly all the sporting activities are great but you also have a lot of really interesting things that come ot CS because of the Bush Library. College Station ISD is also outstanding. You can also still drive just a few miles and be in the country if you prefer to have more land.
If you are retired its great for a lot of the same reasons. My parents are retired there and its paradise for them. They go to a different sporting event almost every night. My Dad volunteers for several organizations on campus and the Lions Club. They have friends that come to visit all the time because of the school. It's a very safe and inexpensive place to live.
Due to the size of the city you also have a large variety of diverse restaurants, tons of places to shop, and all the things you would need in a city. If you crave the big city stuff you can get in the car and be there in very little time, being in the I35/45/10 Triangle makes everything convenient. The school is also very flush with cash and the city as well so they are building infrastructure to make it much better and doing it the right way. Once they build the "Aggie Highway" it will be an Expressway all the way into Houston making that trip even faster, you will be able to get to Houston Intercontinental in an hour and it makes commuting to Houston actually feasible for some. That road is going to make the B/CS area explode growth wise.

Also the name of College Station's one and only Homosexual bar! Something for everyone here in Texas' Smartest City!

I have always wanted to live an hour and a half away from Houston. Childhood dream.

I agree...I wouldn't want to live in Starkville or Oxford either if I was not going to school there. Same with College Station.
Yeah but it was great for school. Close to Houston, being an alcoholic is accepted, and tons of girls with daddy issues to bang.
Just because I bought the weed in Houston didn't mean I couldn't smoke it in CS.

Houston has better weed than Austin. Fact.

I lived in Houston for 15 years after graduating (undergrad); and eventually returned to CS for my doctorate.
It was as good--for different reasons--in my late 30s as it was during my early 20s.

CS is an awesome place to raise a family, to be honest.

Considering the police are fricking insane here, I disagree.
They take power-trip to a whole new level of absurd.
