and Texas bought one with Vince Young, tried with Ricky Williams, even tried with Edwin Simmons. But alas, UTx is still not a blue blood.
I don't think you understand anything about Texas or their boosters. Look at the history of NCAA violations, you won't find many, and all have been minor. You won't find a Cam Newton story for sure.
Texas left the SWC because of all the cheating (SMU and A&M specifically). They didn't want to try to keep up with the bag game..
I'm not sure why they are different, but there is really no other explanation for the 20 to 30 year droughts in performance they go through. They are the flagship school of a state that produces tons of NFL talent...

Texas lost that status 30 years ago

Partner, I grew up in Texas. I saw Earl Campbell score 2 touchdowns within 30 seconds agains Rice in 1977. I was at the Cotton Bowl when UTx beat bama 14-12. I saw Peavey take out Marcus Dupree in Cotton Bowl. Don’t lecture me on Longhorn football. I was all burnt orange until I enrolled in Auburn and we beat Texas in 1991. UTx is not a blue blood and I’m not sure any more impressive than Auburn, Florida State, or myriad of other programs who rise to the top every 1-2 decades. STFU

OK bud, they are one of the winningest programs of all time. Got multiple National Titles in multiple sports. Probably the richest public school in the entire country. If that doesn't qualify them as a Blue Blood, then what does? Are you saying it's all about Football? Anyone can buy a football championship. Thats how the Auburns, Clemsons, FSUs, and Miamis of the world get theres..That is not how Texas does it. SMU could have bought a title in the 80's if the NCAA hadn't stopped them...You don't know crap..You are basing your opinion off the last decade of football and not their entire sports history.

Blueblood in the context is football specific, so nothing else you mentioned matters. No one cares to get into a dick swinging contest with UT/A&M/UTIMCO, you guys are both the richest -- we get it, so 1 natty in 50 years is... bad.

It's as if Auburn fans click their ruby slippers three times and wish for this, it'll come true
