Hypothetically speaking, what's more impressive? Winning a championship at LSU/Florida/Bama? Or going to the Capital 1 game at Vandy? What's a harder accomplishment?

All things are relative. Arkansas =/= Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Texas, etc.

Apples to apples. Oranges to oranges.

I think SEC athletic directors would see things a lot more differently. Of course, they're educated past the level of a ferret.

Started this thread just wanting to see where LSU fans would rank Miles. I should have followed sheep logic in ranking my coaches so it wouldn't have bogged down into an actual argument with other teams.

Well no one would put him above Saban, and I see no reason why he wouldn't be a solid #2, so what is it that you're waiting on us to say?

So you just wanted to point out that Saban is better than Miles and then sit back and eat popcorn...gotcha.

But what you guys are saying is that if Petrino were to win 11 games every year, the rest of his career...but somehow never win a championship

Are people claiming that Larry Coker is a better coach than John Cooper?

No, a coach's first job is to RECRUIT the best players. Hired help doesn't count.

Considering a good portion wanted him fired within the last year or 2, I fully expected to see a few of you rank him dead last after last night.

Where would you rank John Cooper if he were able to be on this list, using his record at tOSU?

Spurrier led South Carolina to their first 11 win season ever. Petrino led Arkansas to our first 11 win season since 1977.

I'd go:

Saban
Miles
Spurrier
Petrino
Richt
Chizik
Sumlin
Pinkel
Franklin
Freeze
Mullen
Muschamp
Dooley
Brooks
Me
Harvey Updyke
Bear Bryant's corpse
All other coaches
All Arm Chair QB's
Corky
Anyone else but Houston Nutt

Some will I'm sure. Oh well, every fanbase has dumbasses. He's still a great coach, but he picked a bad night to have one of the worst coaching performances in his 7 years here.

I'm not about to pretend I know enough about a coach that retired 10 years ago and where Ohio State's resources are/aren't strong.

I know that Arkansas hasn't done shite in decades and, compared to some schools in the SEC - they still haven't. But you can't judge a coach at Arkansas the same as you would a coach at Florida or Texas. Just like you can't judge a coach at vandy like you would a coach at arkansas. There are intrinsic characteristics at each school that make winning easier/harder.

Is it easier to win a championship at Texas or Vandy? Answer me that question, then tell me how using championships as a gauge for measuring coaching prowess makes sense in the least?

Its probably harder to get to the Cotton Bowl as teh coach at KSU tahn it is at Arky so Bill Snyder is also better than CBP.
