He's very good and can play both cb and nickel. He was also the top punt return man in the country (and would've been last season had he not gotten injured). Had he not gotten injured, his senior season would've moved him up the rounds.

Some team is going to get a steal with Eddie Jackson at safety.
If his leg healed well, he is physical, quick, great ball skills and can run a defense. Smart player.

After 3 rounds, Vandy has the 6th most players drafted in the SEC. Our recruiting sucks, so that's clearly player development in our program. We can sell that to new recruits. We'll be stealing 5 stars from Bama and LSU soon.

Really, I mean it.

As a Bama fan I believe Allen and Foster were drafted way lower (15 picks) lower than their ratings and abilities. Most of the prognosticators agree and the reasons point to injured shoulders for Allen and potential flaws in judgement from Foster. But to be fair, it seems like Lawson from Auburn is going to drafted well below his status as well. What is the skinny on that drop?

Most people think when teams did the Lawson medical checkup it went really bad
One Natl draft guy said it was "pretty clear" in a tweet that is what happened. No other explanation

Has Josh Dobbs gone yet?

Nature was not kind to Lawson. It's like he is too strong for his own skeletal system.

Medical evaluation on top of already "limited" measurables. His game actually lines up with the NFL much better than the college game so its still surprising he is available. I also think scouts over think the process. Its insane the he and Eddie Williams are still around.

His arms came in at 31.5" which is a huge red flag for a lot of teams + He is so jacked that there are concerns about his flexibility and how stiff he is
Kid works his arse off though and his technique and future refinement should take care of all of his issues I'd he stays healthy

Lawson should've stayed another year fam

Staying another year won't make his arms grow or his medical issues with his hips disappear
He had 9 sacks, ~14TFL an an absolutely ridiculous 24 QB hurries (lead SEC by huge margin)
If you fall to RD4 with those stats, a 4.6 40 at 260lb and good pass rush moves out of college, it is pretty clear his production. Isn't the issue

He could've proven he could stay healthy another year while also refining his craft. It's not like he would've given up millions by staying.

It isn't just stayi g healthy, they probably found something that causes future concern. No team does RD1 on someone like that which guarantees them $All 4 years
He wouldn't play himself into a RD1 pick and the difference in money from Rd2 to RD 4-5 is mostly what is guaranteed Not The amount Giving up a year of salary + getting to contract 2 a year later is not worth a marginal move up
The biggest difference between RD2 and say RD6-7 is the guaranteed money makes it easier for a RD2 guy to get a roster spot. The actual $ difference isn't that much
Lawson won't have a problem staying in a roster getting to contract 2 if healthy

I think he could've worked his way into being drafted in the first round. His sack numbers were pretty good but he didnt finish on several as well. Plus his run defense needed some work.
My rule of thumb is 3 or below, go; if projected higher, stay.

Lawson clearly has medical concerns which aren't going away + his frame with arm length. He was projected top 2-3 RDs pre workouts/medical checks
Look at Daquan Bowers who was projected top 5 argumebt to be #1 and medical concerns about his knees dropped him to RD3

Lawson will be the next great Bengal defender from Auburn

Eddie Jackson to the Bears! Good for him!!

Hope Pacman Jones is Carl's rookie mentor. I have more room in my signature to add more elite jimmy rustlers once they earn the status.

Don't forget the 35 bench-press reps. ;-)
