When a lower tier school steals your Defensive Coordinator... and you have to settle for your 6th or 7th option.... there's something really fricking wrong.

Yep. This is a win-win. Either LSU was going to get an improvement at DC or Miles would screw it up and speed up the clock on his own departure. It's the latter. If I thought Miles was smart, I might suspect this is all a giant middle finger to the LSU fanbase. But that would be giving Miles too much credit.

Sadly, I don't think he was the sixth or seventh option. I think he was first or second. This "search" was a dog-and-pony show to satisfy the masses and agents help agents get clients raises.

Steele was mentioned very early in the search. Miles probably thinks this was a good hire and that he got his man.

Replacing him with a big name wouldn't have been a big loss. From a coaching perspective.. it is now a big loss
