Don't understand the hate for Battle during all of this. He's not the one recruiting high risk thug piece of shits who can't stay out of trouble. And not a single frick was given about the state of Alabama basketball until Saban suddenly failed to bring home hardware last year.

Funny how you UT fans like to slam on Battle as a coach, he had a .723 winning % and Johnny Majors had one of .645.

Not hate. The shirt was a joke.
TBH, there's frustration and no one really to be frustrated at, besides Saban and the guy at the top, and no one wants to be mad at Saban.
Like another poster said, he's fine. He's just not exciting.
Basketball has been exciting. There were times during Gottfried's tenure when it was worth paying attention to, when the coliseum was packed. Wimp was on a roll. I think what people are feeling is that if we're going to bother to field a team, it should at least be good.

Heaven help anyone who gets someone as abrasive, bullheaded, and out of touch/incompetent when it comes to vetting as Hart. He has managed to piss off everyone in the athletic dept and elsewhere - even the fricking band! How the hell do you even do that?? Not that I'd mind y'all having one too.
That said, I have to admit Hart has at least temporarily saved his arse with this hire. I don't know how long that will last given he's still got everyone mad at him but he did well on this one.

frick it. Doesn't affect my life at all if they all thug it up or quit. I'll just watch some other team. The kick six,, as much as it sucked, really made me evaluate my priorities. And guess what, watching a bunch of kids play a game doesn't rank too high on my list. So in short, eff em all.

Eh, Geno had discipline issues prior to Kiffin. Tyren Jones has spent more in the dog house than out and that was prior to Kiffin. JonTaylor's trouble was pre-existing to Bama. I ain't ready to call Lane a bad luck charm just yet since these boneheaded fools have been stupid for a while.

Not slamming Battle he did a lot of good for us. BUT that stat is misleading. He had three good seasons 11-1, 10-2, 10-2, followed by a steady decline.
1973 Tennessee 8–4
1974 Tennessee 7–3–2
1975 Tennessee 7–5
1976 Tennessee 6–5
More telling is that despite his first few seasons his conference record was: 22–18–1. That's just not good any way you slice it. That said, while Majors is a legend for many reasons (he righted the ship despite it taking a long while to rebuild) he's never been one of my favorite coaches W-L wise. His job was hard and he came here after winning a Natty at Pitt so it's not as tho the man couldn't coach. But there's no question, Fulmer was a better coach.
Many UT fans will tell you the 70s are basically the only era that compares to our recent doldrums.
Majors had to clean that decline up. The 70s were bad for us and it was a recruiting hole that Battle got us into.
