No, it won't be.

Kirby Smart will be their next coach before Malzahn would be.

Won't be open next year.

Doubtful.. Spurrier will be competing for the east again.

That leaves TCU. They're going into a BCS conference with a successful coach, why would it open up?

If Nutt has another crappy year, Ole Miss could open up. Smart may turn GA down. KY, with a very bad year, could open up. Spurrier could retire. Patterson could be hired away from TCU. There is no way to predict what jobs will open up with the coaching carousel, but there are surely better jobs than Vandy that Malzahn will be a candidate for.

I think this is an insinuation that another school might pick up Patterson...

I know, which makes no sense, since he's going into a BCS conference and can earn a BCS shot now, vs what he's been in.

The SEC commisioner needs to get behind Vandy and make them spend some of that SEC money on a good coach (whether Malzahn or not) and upgrade the facilities (if needed?). It would be nice to have all 12 teams in the SEC trying to win instead of just 11.......

Looks like he wants to be the next Greg Schiano.

He's gonna keep turning down HC positions, and when bigger jobs do open up... the coaches that took the HC positions and succeeded in them, will benefit before Malzahn will. A proven HC > proven OC.

Vandy is very competative in baseball and other sports just not football.

If OM opened up Gus would be their top choice and he'd go, I've told several Auburn friends that if OM opened up to wish Gus well.

Ole Miss has too much $$ tied up in Nutt and his contract runs to 2014. They can't afford to fire Nutt next year or the year after. and hire another coach.

Malzahn will have to take a job outside of the SEC if he wants a HC job in the next 2 years imo.
