His child is special needs and they are very attached to their doctors and to the special needs community in Baton Rouge where Brick and his family do a lot of charity work.

He could leave and LSU would probably release the buyout, but I always thought he would be named LB coach if/when another position is allowed by the NCAA for coaching staffs.

I wish him well if he leaves.

ETA:

You're an a-hole.

I doubt LSU makes him pay his buyout. The Chavis buyout situation has more to do with the fact that he screwed LSU over pretty bad while leaving. Brick leaving saves LSU about $900,000 over the next two years for what amounts to a grad assistant.

Wait wait wait, are you equating Brick Haley to a grad assistant? Surely I read that wrong. No functioning human being could possibly believe that.

It's been known for a while that Brick is now considered an intern with LSU. Les said it himself in a press conference. But the reality is that with Steele and O, there was no room left to actually give him a working title. He's a very highly paid intern.

Y'all get his LOI yet? Wouldn't put it past him to delay/change it at the last minute.

LSU coach Les Miles didn't have much to say about former defensive line coach Brick Haley, who lost his job when Miles hired Ed Orgeron for the same position. But he referenced Haley as an "intern" at the introductory press conference for Orgeron and new defensive coordinator Kevin Steele on Wednesday.

When asked about the status of Haley, the Tigers' defensive line coach for the past six seasons, Miles said, "Brick, first of all, has done a great job. His contribution here is valued and respected. He's currently an intern for us. We encourage him."

He may not officially be an intern, as Les probably couldn't think of a title when asked about him. But he most certainly was demoted with the hiring of O.

He is no longer the DL coach, nor does he have the title of position coach. What would you call him?

Yep! Our D-line once established as "DLU" has taken a step back in the past few years.

Brick Haley ruined what Earl Lane had going. He is not that good! I wouldn't care in the least

brick haley isn't near as good as people think. we were 13th in sacks this year and he couldn't develop any of the talent that was here

Well Arden Key will be at Jacksonville State by 2017 so I think it's definitely a better deal for us

You did see the defense we fielded last year, right? It has to be an improvement.
