My take on the western division and thoughts going into the season.

1) Auburn - Malzahn won't be a coordinator much longer, enjoy it while it lasts. One of the best offensive minds in college football.

2) Arkansas - McGee has been learning from the master for years, remains to be seen how he fares on his own, his offense should be scary this year.

3) Alabama - I don't think McElwain gets enough credit, Bama usually finds a way to put points on the board.

4) MSU - Don't really know much about Koenning, if they stick to the ground this year they should be solid.

5) Ole Miss- Doesn't really matter who is OC for Houston Nutt, he's just there to take the blame if it goes wrong, which it usually does.

6) Lsu -

Serious discussion only please, no flame fest...

LSU's offense is looking a bit shaky now, not sure how they will turn out. Thought they might improve but now not so much

So, who is the genius here - Him or Petrino?

For sure. Usually a lot of points.

Just because he breathes BP's essence, he gets default #2. Gotta love a pig with a keen sense of passive aggressiveness

I think McGee will shine on his own, so I put him number two. But we can't really be sure until he goes out on his own.

Did it make you cry when you walked in on Greg McElroy and Jim McElwain railing your wife/GF/mom?

Offense is staying the same as when Krags first came to LSU. If the QB play improves, our offense improves. That was and is Krags #1 job. Nothing drastically changes from this.

While this is probably what I would be telling myself if it were my team, it would be naive to think it would have no negative effect.

Hell, you would have to at least anticipate a transition if he was still the OC. But you throw in the fact that he's being downgraded just as fall camp open, and not knowing how much he'll be able to contribute with his illness, you have to wonder how much it will effect LSU offensively.

Except, that's what Kragthorpe said when he was hired.

I'm not "telling myself that."
Kragthorpe didn't come in and completely change everything. It's the same plays. I know you're creaming your pants thinking this is going to be worst case scenario, but his main job was to improve QB play.

Is it a setback? Sure. But we're not going to take the field looking like a circus just because someone else has the title of coordinator now.

Why would you get rid of Crowton if you want the same offense out of his replacement?

Because my deaf uncle could groom a QB better than Gary Crowton.

Crowton was fricking to much of a trick this/trick that coach. No identity. Kragthorpe said he wouldn't change teminology, nor the standard plays. But he would make it simple, POWER run football.

Honestly, it will be Les Miles philosophy. Kragthorpe's main job was to coach QB, which Crowton was incapable. He still will be.

Is this ideal? No. Is it a disaster? No.

Come on B, think about it. Crowtons main problem was too many Formations, too many mass substitutions, along with poor qb development and sloppy execution. We aren't changing the plays so much as we're changing the play calls. And as much as everybody loves to think we're going to all of sudden suck because of this, the fact remains that he's staying a big part of our offense and we're still going to rape erybody in hur

So Miles is capable of grooming a QB?
