This will get pleaded down to a misdemeanor judging on the low bail number. Cam and Hootie will miss the opener for sure. Hootie might get processed.

Players immediately suspended pending due process. 1-5 games if charges reduced.

They will get the same punishment, none.

If they were both scrubs then it would be their last day as a Nama player

A failed drug screen isn't a crime

I don't think anyone can make that call yet. It just all depends how this plays out. If indeed this was a drug sting then all bets are off. Bags(2) of weed and guns = not good! Did they say how much weed was involved? So right now I would say...

Cam is facing more than likely a 3 game suspension. Hootie with his past is gone!

All this talk of "Processed" is pre-mature. You people need to slow down and remember what school we are dealing with here. Watch this all get pinned on Hootie, oh and also Cam will find God and ESPN will do a special on the charity work he's doing to help kids of people in prison on weapons and drug charges. Cam's twitter hashtags will include #savedbygrace & #changedman .....just watch.

if you can find a precedent for this, then I will agree with you.

otherwise, please stop making the rest of us LSU fans look bad.

I really think that Cam will make it back to play in the more meaningful games this season.

My hunch is that he'll be given leniency on the gun charge

How many chances did TM get? It's his first offense. Unless someone was hurt with the weapon does he not deserve a second chance?

He was kicked of the team for much less.

Sort of reminds me of what Crowell did, except Crowell's gun had the serial number field off (making it much worse).

Unfortunately, becauase he is a good football player, he will get a slap on the wrist and be right back out there after perhaps a brief suspension.

The stolen gun was found under his seat in his car. An illegal firearm with illegal drugs is a minimum 5 year sentence in Louisiana. That's a tough case to plead down to anything that would allow him to stay in D1 football much less Alabama.

Which gun charge? There will be at least two.

One count of possessing a stolen firearm, two counts of possessing a firearm with controlled substances.

It's not just that the gun was stolen, it is also that they had guns AND weed.

According to the university handbook he will be kicked out of school. Hard to play when you can't go to class.

I don't see how in the world they can stay enrolled in the university with these charges.

The arrests occurred in Louisiana, so I don't see Alabama football players getting their charges fixed.

Wasn't Crowell dismissed?

Genuinely curious, I don't know if there is precedent for this.
